After you got back to New York, you threw yourself into any missions they'd offer you and it wasn't something you ever saw yourself doing, but it more than cleared your name to Fury with all the lives you had saved from potential disaster. Between saving half the world from Thanos and doing these regular, more low-key missions, he gave you a pass as long as you didn't keep stealing. Training was pretty hefty in between being flown out to wherever one was, but it made them go more smoothly and you were enjoying the rush.

Going back to your apartment after almost three exhausting months, should've been weird, but almost a relief like a deep breath being exhaled. That was far from what you felt stepping through those doors on a random weekday and it had you turning around almost immediately after dropping your bags in the foyer to walk around the neighborhood instead.

You couldn't describe the feeling, but it wasn't like you were coming home anymore. It was empty and cold, like you weren't ready to face a time when you felt your weakest, but you were getting there. You'd just take it a bit at a time to do it.

It was the end of February and you were dressed in a black dress with a soft cream-colored knit sweater over it, paired with black knee-high boots. You were feeling anxious as you approached the same coffee shop you've been to thousands of times and you decided on the way to order something simple to help settle your stomach.

"Hey, babe," Georgia greeted you without even looking up from the magazine she was casually flipping through on the counter and you winced, feeling a headache coming on, "The usual?"

"Been a while," You mumbled, strolling closer to the counter, and peering around, wondering why you never really saw anyone else in here before, "But um, no, I'll have a tea, and do you guys have any crackers?"

"Oyster ones that typically come on the side of soup," She told you, going to make your tea, and then eyeing you with a wisp of concern when she saw you cringing, rubbing your temples, "Another rough night?"

"No," You told her honestly, "Haven't had any nights like that in so long, I don't know what this is."

"Maybe you're pregnant." She snorted and you rolled your eyes in a mix of both annoyance and amusement.

"Yeah, don't think so."

"Still dating the scarlet witch?" She asked as she brought it over, waving away the money you offered, "On the house."

"Thanks, and uh, yeah, how'd-"

"I don't live under a rock, I watch the news," She shrugged and then pointed to your eyes, "You should really see a doctor about that."

"See a doctor about what..." You trailed off when she froze, glancing up at the clock above on the wall to see it had stopped, and then stepping back when you realized this wasn't you doing this.

At least not on purpose.

You fished your phone out of your pocket in a panic, going to call Wanda, but then she snapped back into moving again.

"About your eyes, silly," She told you with a small chuckle, "I don't remember them being that color."

Instead of going for your phone, you went for your mirror, and held it up to examine your face.

"What the fuck?" You muttered under your breath because the entire iris of your eyes were blue for some reason.

"Might be some kind of infection." She called from behind the counter, and you snapped it closed, peering back over at her as she started cleaning a random, already clean cup.

"Get a lot of customers in here?" You asked, but in the middle of your question, she froze again, "Son of a bitch, what is happening."

Your phone went off this time before you got a chance to call Wanda and as if reading your mind or simply just picking up on what was happening, there was a text from her.

Everything okay?

Instead of texting her back, you pressed call and put the phone up to your ear.

"Hey, what's going on?" She picked up, "Where are you?"

"Just a coffee shop near the townhouse," You told her, your eyes still set on Georgia, waiting and hoping for her to snap back again soon, "But Wanda...I'm not doing this."
There was a long pause on the other end of the line and for a split second, you panicked, thinking she might've gotten frozen this time too, but then you heard her sigh and you let out a deep breath you didn't realize you were holding.

"Listen closely," She started, and your posture straightened at the seriousness of her words, "Look outside and tell me what you see."

You furrowed your eyebrows, tempted to ask why, but instead, you found yourself walking over to the window anyway and you tried to get a grasp on everything you could.

"Honestly, it's just the usual-" You said and Georgia's voice made you jump.

"Coming right up!" She called from behind and you spun around to face her, "Another rough night, Y/n?"

"Wanda, what's happening?"

"Get out of there and meet me at your house, I'm already on my way."
