"...Wanda, what did you do?"

"I went back and took care of it."

You woke up to blinding lights, catching the end of their conversation, and you blinked about a hundred times, just trying to adjust to your surroundings. Surprisingly, you weren't in any physical pain, but the events from before you passed out came rushing back and you squeezed your eyes shut, trying not to cry.

"Y/n, hey," Wanda cooed, putting a hand on your back to help you sit up when you went to do so, "You're okay, you're in the tower."

You were sitting up in bed, Wanda next to you, and Tony and Bruce were standing nearby, looking distressed. By the noise you could hear outside the room, you knew Steve, Sam, and someone's voice you didn't recognize was here too.

"What the fuck happened?" You couldn't help but to blurt out in a raspy voice, laughing lightly after while sniffling a bit.

"It's over," Wanda told you firmly and when you met her eyes, you saw the fire and determination slowly fading from them like whatever battle she fought was still fresh, "I promise you, it's over."

And she was right, for the most part.

The next few days you stayed in the tower while everything died down, but you couldn't escape it. The news was flooded with the mysterious fire in Queens, the avenger battle with something mystical, and images of your father plastered all over the screen.

You were sitting on the floor in the living room with a blanket wrapped around you, peering up at the screen as slow updates were given on everything. Wanda wanted to stay by your side, but when she was called in for a mission in Asia, you insisted she go and when she hesitated, you told her you just needed some time for yourself to get through this.

It was the third full day by yourself and you had spent the entire morning eating chips, eyes glued to the TV. You knew it wasn't exactly healthy, but you didn't care, and you missed your dad too much to think about anything else.

It was so hard to lose someone you used to have a solid relationship with growing up and even in the end, he did it for you. After all the hateful words the two of you have exchanged since your mother's passing, he still died to protect you. And he didn't use his last words to tell you to do something with your life or help others or anything like that, he just finally told you the truth and gave his life so that you could do whatever you wanted with yours.

It pained you so much, hurt you both physically and emotionally, so much so, it was hard to get out of bed these past few days.

You looked away from the TV when your phone buzzed and with your clean hand, you reached back for it where you had left it on the couch. You smiled tiredly when you saw it was Wanda, the two of you had been casually texting when she had a free moment, opening it without question.

Sent you a friend

You furrowed your eyebrows, but before you could type back a response, someone was coming into the room and you narrowed your eyes when the huge man just smiled widely, plopping down next to you.

"I'm Thor," He beamed, and you couldn't help but to chuckle at how this seemingly intimidating god could somehow also look like a giant golden retriever or a teddy bear, "And I have a question."

"I'm intrigued and have many answers." You smirked and his booming laugh had you smiling.

"But first, what're these?" He gently took the bag from your lap to inspect it.

"You're telling me," You turned towards him and he raised his eyebrows at you, "You've never had Doritos?"

"Not that I recall."

"I'm about to blow your mind," You handed the bag back to him when he set it down, "Go on, I wanna see this."

His large paw reached into the bag and he popped one into his mouth, taking the time to taste it thoroughly as you watched him.

"Eh? Eh?" You gestured to the bag, "Good, right?"

"Delicious," He nodded in confirmation, almost confused as to why it was, "We didn't have these in Asgard."

"Well, you should've," You huffed playfully and then asked, "What was it like there?"

"It was wonderful, and the people are all very noble," He smiled lightly at you with a glint in his eyes, "And thanks to a certain time melder, we could've lost a lot more than just a place to call home."

"She sounds like a cool cat." You smirked and he laughed.

He hummed, reaching for more chips, and you chuckled in amusement, not expecting this to be the friend Wanda sent, but since his people were now on earth, it was an inevitable introduction.

You had glanced back to the TV as he was clearly planning to finish the bag, but after he did, he crumpled it up, and turned to where you were looking.

"I lost my father too." He whispered lowly, but with his deep voice, it didn't feel that much like a whisper.

"You loved him?" You asked lightly, side eyeing the god.

"Of course," He boomed, and you nodded with a tight smile before he continued, "We had our differences, especially when it came to my brother, Loki, you'll meet him another time, but yes, I loved him with my whole heart."

"...And he loved you?"

"All fathers love their children," He told you immediately, but then realized maybe that wasn't always truly the case, so he added, "I like to believe they do anyway, but they're...people, usually, and they make mistakes. Just like we do," He sighed, "I also believe that we're their greatest accomplishments and when they hurt us or fight with us, it hurts them more than we can imagine," He continued, "Because they would die to protect us and sometimes..." He trailed off, peering up at the TV just as your father's name was mentioned again, his picture appearing next to video of the burning apartment building from days ago when someone filmed it, "We're forced to experience that firsthand."

As he spoke, tears welled in your eyes, but he hadn't noticed until he grew curious as to why you weren't saying anything, and he frowned deeply when he saw you were upset, flicking the TV off when you started to speak.

"I loved him, I did," You sniffed, trying to stifle your crying, "But I haven't told him in so long and..."

"He knew," Thor smiled sadly, putting an arm around you, "He knows and with how good your heart is, I think anything hateful said towards each other just showed how much you cared, in an odd way, you know?"

You suddenly wrapped your arms around him in a hug and he held you while you cried against him, needing to be able to lean on someone you didn't really know, but maybe understood you more than others.

"What was your question?" You wiped at your cheeks, pulling away, and looking up at the god.

"Oh, don't worry about it." He smiled, waving it off.

"Come on, tell me." You whined with a laugh, poking his chest, and he laughed, nodding.

"I was wondering if you'd like to visit the new Asgard with me?" He raised his eyebrows, looking hopeful, and adding, "See all that and who you saved, especially my brother and Heimdall, from what I hear."

"Hell yeah."
