Chapter 31: A Major Injury Out Of Nowhere?!
KickinChicken ran out of his locker room to run inside Holden's locker room. Upon opening the door, he looks down at a critically injured Holden and looks at an opened window.
“Oh my God…” He said as he looked down to Holden, “Holden, are you alright?!”
“No…” He said while groaning in pain, “Someone came in wearing all black and red and beat me up… They were also wearing a mask to not show their face…”
“What animal were they? Come on, tell me! What were they?!”
“Urgh… How should I know? They just showed up and got me without me looking at them fully!”
KickinChicken then clenched his fists as he turned to the front door and opened it.
“HELP! WE GOT A MAN DOWN!” He shouted at the top of his lungs, “GET SOME MEDICAL ASSISTANCE OVER HERE, DAMN IT!”
Paramedics came by to get Holden up. RatedRat was there with KickinChicken and an official of the tournament to have a private chat together. CatNap and Hoppy came by to see what was going on.
“What just happened?” CatNap wondered,
A paramedic looked at CatNap and talked to him.
“Unfortunately, Holden was mysteriously injured, critically.” He replied to CatNap as he pointed to KickinChicken, “This young buck over here told me that a mysterious black and red masked critter has hurt him, really bad.”
“Oh my…” CatNap said,
“Holden…” Hoppy said in disbelief, “Why would someone do that to him?”
“Don't know…”
As soon as the paramedics came out, KickinChicken came out to see CatNap and Hoppy.
“...You two.” He said,
“Uhhh…” Hoppy said, scared,
“...I'll see you in the next match of the Semi-Finals, Hoppy. …Maybe the Finals as well when I face you, CatNap.”
KickinChicken walked away.
“Wait, what does that mean?” CatNap wondered,
RatedRat and an official came out.
“Considering that there's no one else to fill in Holden Howler's shoes, we decided to give KickinChicken a free win.” The official replied,
“What?!” Hoppy said, shocked, “Does that mean, I gotta duel him in the Semi-Finals?!”
“Unfortunately, yes.” RatedRat replied, “Sorry, but them's the rules.”
“Whatever, I'm not gonna break them, but I will break your nose once this tournament is over.”
“That won't happen because I'm catching a private drive home!”
RatedRat turned around and flipped Hoppy off while walking away with an official. Hoppy tried to get her, but CatNap stopped her.
“No, please.” CatNap said, “Enough damage was already done…”
Hoppy sighed.
“Sorry…” She said, “Damn rat… Now I gotta face my, I guess, my ex-boyfriend now…”
“Are you really gonna break up with Kickin?” CatNap wondered,
“I guess, once our duel is over… I feel like something changed in him after Holden was almost beaten to death…”
“Pretty much…”
Hoppy sighed.
“Well, guess the Semi-Finals are gonna start right now.” She said, “Bobby's gonna be your opponent, yeah?”
“Yeah…” CatNap replied, “I don't know what to expect, since she's always changing her decks…”
“That's allowed for her since they all followed a theme of some sort… Like the cards all tell a story…”
“Really?”
“Really. She told me about it earlier before this happened.”
“Ok then.”
Hoppy then turned and patted on CatNap's back.
“May the best duelist win.” She said, “Who knows, maybe I might win and face you in the Finals, if I'm so lucky.”
“Good luck to the two of us then.” CatNap said with a smile,
Hoppy walked away as CatNap sighed.
“This is gonna suck.” He said,
