warning for vomit? y/n finally got sick

Y/n had taken quite a few souvenirs home from her time in the Never-Realm: irreparable damage to her fragile mental state, a fluffy white parka she'd stuffed in the back of her closet (Ninjago City never got chilly enough for it), a handful of traveler's tea berries (which she'd dried and locked in an airtight glass jar), and a murderous cold.

The sickness took its sweet time settling in, but one morning, six days since returning from her trying trip, Y/n awoke to the uncontrollable urge to hurl.

She tumbled out of the wooden shelf that was her makeshift bed (desperate times called for desperate measures) and broke into a run. She made it to the bathroom in time to vomit her guts out into the toilet bowl, her entire body convulsing with each uncontrollable heave.

When it was over, Y/n threw herself in the shower and let the scalding hot water wash away her disgust.

It wasn't just the water: her body felt like it was on fire. Y/n was cooking herself from the inside out in an attempt to burn away the cursed Never-Realm pathogens that plagued her.

Her legs trembled as she stumbled back to the storage room, floundering past the pristine shelves stocked with jars of tea leaves. She never made it to her sleeping nook; she collapsed on the hardwood floor of her impromptu bedroom and felt too crappy to get up.

Y/n surrendered to her exhaustion and laid there, curled in a fetal position and wondering if this was the end. She cried herself to sleep.

gore/violence warning for this entire season bc yes i traumatized her even more :)

She found herself in an endless sky, somehow standing on solid ground that was clearer than glass. A baby blue expanse stretched in all directions, dotted with fluffy cotton clouds.

She had been here before.

"Hello, Y/n."

Y/n whipped around to face Astoria L/n. Her face no longer looked sunken, and her hair continued to rippled like seaweed in a restless ocean current. Her gunmetal grey eyes were as hollow and hard as the little metal trinkets she crafted relentlessly.

"Welcome."

"You're not here," Y/n said, shaking her head furiously. "This is just a dream."

"Then you're more stupid than I thought," sighed Astoria. "No, this is a pocket of reality older than time itself. Masters of the skies have a certain affinity for finding it."
