guess who got 100 on that driver's exam 🙃
Time was hard to track in Prime Empire.
Y/n wasn't sure if she'd been grinding experience for seven days or seven years, but she was finally caught up to her skill level in real life. The fact that her avatar had no need for sleep was what made the days so hard to count— what even was a day in here? How did it compare to a day in Ninjago?
Y/n wasn't complaining, though— not sleeping meant not seeing Astoria.
But not seeing Astoria meant not getting any answers.
"Hello, cousin."
Did that make Morro . . . her uncle? Y/n wasn't so sure how to feel about the revelation. The ghost of Master Wu's old student was her mother's cousin. The same ghost who'd possessed her now-boyfriend.
Now, the team was prepared to tackle their quest for the first Key-Tana.
They were currently huddled in the backstage area of Jay's secret night club (he insisted that it was just a hidden base, but Y/n knew better), waiting for the master of lightning to finish up his show.
"Is he the master of lightning or the master of lighting?" Cole asked with a sigh.
"He's a ninja," Y/n said, not missing a beat. "And he is wearing makeup." She grinned over to Lloyd, who laughed warmly and pecked her on the cheek. She felt the ticklish sensation of him smiling into the quick kiss.
Cole frowned in confusion, not sure what they found to be so funny, but didn't comment on it.
The five of them shared the scarlet tuxedo sofa in the corner of the room, feeling the bass of distant music boom with their heartbeats. Come to think of it, did their avatars even have heartbeats? Prime Empire was such a fever dream.
Jay burst into the room, tossing his guitar aside.
"Alright! We're good to go," he announced.

"I still don't get how you got that group of nutjobs to do everything you say," Kai huffed as he stepped out of the arcade cabinet and into the first game zone.
Blocky trees framed the clearing he emerged in.
"Uh, the League of Jays aren't 'nutjobs,'" Jay protested. "They're fans. And they're awesome."
"Just 'cause they're fans, doesn't mean they're not nutjobs," Cole pointed out.
Jay crossed his arms. "Oh, you're just jealous because-"
"Can we focus for a second on the reason we're here?" Nya interrupted the bickering boys. "To get one of the three keys we need to unlock the final arcade cabinet and get into Unagami's temple?"
