Race recognised some of his surroundings, he had been around this area before, when he first started selling papers. Simon, however, had been so brainwashed over the years that he couldn't remember any of the streets he had wandered when he was just a little boy looking for work.

The walk had become silent after Simon finished asking what Race thought was going to be a never ending list of questions.

The clock rang again this time chiming four 'just one more hour till he was home' Race thought. The sun had just begun rising making the streets of New York brighter in every aspect.

The silence broke as Simon gasped looking at a coffee shop.

"What?" Race said half groggy, half confused.

"I recognise it"

"We have a similar one called Tibbys near the lodge; we can eat there when we get back"

Simeon looked up at race with a massive grin on his face, "Okay!"

They turned the corner onto a little street with a clock on a wall reading 4:37. Race knew every street from here like the back of his hand, this was his first selling spot before he moved to the races. He could get back to the lodge in just under 20 minutes if they picked up the pace.

Spot sat in the corner, supposedly playing with the littluns' but was very clearly zoned out tapping his fingers on the card box.

"I can't take it anymore" Spot growled, standing up and stuffing the cards back into his pocket.

Jack instantly got up and barricaded the door, throwing himself in front of it. "Spot."

"Move"

A few newsies by the window, spoke up "It's Brooklyn!"

Jacks' attention turned to them dragging Spot by the arm to have a look out the window. "I suppose you can go out, they're your boys after all, and I understand I can't keep you cooped up here when your boyfriends out there somewhere."

"About damn time" Spot muttered pulling away from Jacks grasp and swinging the door open. The newsies quickly joined him outside as Spot started giving orders to his boys, "Ace you take a quarter of them to East Side. I want every corner of New York searched."

Race picked up the pace, Simon caught on to his sudden pace change and started speeding up too, clutching his side in agony; being left in a house for many years means you don't have much stamina, and made you prone to stitches.

Race was too focused to notice Simon's pain. He turned swiftly into an alleyway muttering something about a shortcut. About halfway through the alleyway Race stopped and shushed Simon abruptly. "SPOT!" He yelled this time the fast paced walk turned into something of a run. He could just here the end of Spots orders as he exited the alleyway.

There he was stood there. Giving orders outside the Manhattan Lodge.

Spot had just finished giving orders, Jack walked up and clapped his hand on Spots back in sympathy, "We'll find him Spot."

Spot nodded in response but froze when a littlun from the Manhattan Newsies shouted, "IT'S RACER!"

"What?" Spot muttered turning around quickly trying to follow the littluns' gaze, when he finally caught on, the Brown haired Italian boy stood there looking back at him.

In under a second Spot ran, so did Race. They collided falling to the floor. Spot grabbed Races face and kissed him, he didn't care who was watching, he didn't care what his boys had to say, Race was back and that's all that mattered. The kiss went on on for a few seconds before Race pulled back, "Hey, I'm alright, I'm back"

"I-I-I" Spot stuttered not being able to find the words.

Race chuckled at this, picking himself and Spot up off of the floor.

"What happened" Spot said finally speaking actual words.

As he said this, the crowd of newsies crowded around the couple, the Brooklyn boys stood there with their mouths gaping open from shock, but soon doing the same and going to see where Racetrack had been all this time after a moment.

"I don't really remember memory's a bit fuzzy from after I got hit"

"Are you sure your alright?" Spot said finally taking in Races form. Race was stood strangely on his leg, and he had a clear bruise down the side of his head.

"Nothing a few days won't fix" Race said looking around, before yelling for Simon, who walked out of the alleyway and into the crowd. "This is Spot. Spot, Simon. Simon, Spot" Race said introducing them.

"Who's this?" Spot said tilting his head.

"Simon. When I was kidnapped he was there too, I decided that it wasn't fair to leave without him, so here he is. He's a newsie now."

"Right" Spot said nodding and shaking Simon's hand.

"I need to eat." Race stated, "Tibbys sounds nice after a few days."

"TO TIBBY'S" Jack yelled at all the newsies, leading the way.

They got to Tibbys and fed Race and Simon, whilst they explained what had happened.

Spot sat next to Race the whole time keeping his finger locked in Races belt buckle the whole time.

They were back together again, and Spot would make sure no one would touch Race again, in fact he planned to find Mr Alker, and let him know it too.
