Flashback
I never thought I would fall in love with a girl, let alone Jeanine's daughter. She's Jeanine's daughter, I remind myself. She should be my enemy.
Should I tell her? Will she think I'm crazy?
I see Sarah walk over. "There's something I want to tell you," I say, feeling a little nervous.
She looks down at my hands. "You look nervous. What's wrong?"
I take a deep breath, trying to get the words out. "I love you, Sarah Matthews. Do you want to be girlfriends?"
I'm surprised by her quick response. She didn't even need time to think about it. "Yes," she says.
I kiss her and she kisses me back. I'm surprised she never questioned my feelings for her. Why me, I thought she would ask.
As if reading my mind, she says, "I've loved you ever since I first saw you. I didn't know what you would think."
