Ubiquitous Love

Chapter 12

"Aea!" Umingay na ulit ang unit namin dahil nakabalik na sila galing sa kanilang mga pamilya. The noice somehow calms me, it serves as a reminder for me that I am not alone. Nag-aayos na kami ng gamit para sa Elyu trip namin. 

"Wala na ba kayong naiwan? Magcocommute lang tayo para masanay," I said while checking my bag. I was not an overpacker so going on trips was not hassle for me. I looked at Ari and Abi's bag. Umiling nalang ako na may dala silang malaking luggage. Seryoso ba sila? 

Patuloy kong inayos ang mga gamit ko. I'm making sure that my 4 summer fits are ready, as well as my essentials. I only brought my small luggage for this trip. "Hala, 'yan lang ba dala mo?" Abi asked. "Parang pang-isang day ko lang yan," Dagdag niya. I nodded at her and placed it near the door. I also ironed our "bus fits" for tomorrow. 

"Hoy, Abi! Nakita mo ba yung white shorts ko?" Ari shouted from her room. "Wait lang, parang nasa closet ko ata," Agad na tumakbo si Abi para hanapin ang white shorts. Tiningnan ko ang kusina namin para maghanap ng snacks na dadalhin. Kumuha ako ng maliit na bag at naglagay ng mga biscuits at ready-to-eat na pagkain. 

"Matulog tayo ng maaga para maganda gising bukas," Bilin ko sa kanila at pumasok na sa kwarto para matulog. Tiningnan ko ang IG ko bago matulog. I checked Rye's account and scroll through his feed until I saw that he has a new highlight. I clicked it and saw that it was me. There were 4 stories in that highlight. First, it was raining and I saw 2 cup noodles at the table, for sure it was in Uncle John's. Second, it was a cafe in Intramuros, my eyes widened when I realize that it was me! Nakita yung shoulders ko! Third, the flowers that he gave me during our first date, it was placed in my lap. Lastly, it was me. I was smiling widely while waiting for my food to warm up. 

I threw my phone on my bed and screamed on my pillow. Bakit hindi ko yun nakita?! Well, I'm not that active in my social media accounts so probable I didn't noticed it. Kinuha ko ang phone ko at nagscroll sa photos. I immediately looked for a photo of him during our date. I picked the photo when we were in the cafe. Two coffees, one named Rye and one named Rae. I posted it and closed my eyes. 

Kinakabahan ako. 

I kept switching sides on my bed until I was finally able to doze off. Nagising nalang ako sa ingay nila. "Aea! Gumising ka na, baka maiwan pa tayo ng bus! Sa Cubao pa tayo sasakay! May jeep na kaya?" I was half asleep looking at Ari, who was looking outside my window to check for a jeep. Tumayo ako at pumunta na sa CR. 

Habang nag-aayos ako ay tiningnan ko na ang phone ko. Nakita kong nakalike na si Ari, Abi, at Rye doon. Hindi ko na pinansin ang iba dahil si Rye lang din naman ang gusto kong makakita noon. Nagreply din sila pero kay Rye lang ang binuksan ko.

I giggled and typed my reply. Nagkukulitan lang kami hanggang sa sinigawan ako ni Abi dahil baka maiwan na kami ng bus.

"Umusog ka nga," Narinig kong sabi ni Ari. Mukhang hindi na naman sila nagkakaintindihan sa seat nila. Hindi ko kilala yung katabi ko pero nasa likod lang ako ng mga kaibigan ko. Nilagay ko na ang earphones at nagpamusic nalang. 

It was actually a very long ride. Aside from traffic, nagstop over din kami. Dahil first trip ang sinakyan namin, saktong 1PM ay nasa Elyu na kami. We immediately book grab when we were at the terminal kasi pagod na pagod talaga kami sa byahe.  Buti nalang at mabilis lang ang grab namin ngayon. 

When we arrived at our accomodation, I immediately appreciated the beauty of the interior design and the magnificent view. It was giving Summer I Turned Pretty vibes. I immediately went to my room and took a nap. 

After some time, I woke up because of my phone. It was ringing so I had to pick it up. I didn't have the energy to look at the contact name and answered it. "Hello?" I said. "Hi," My eyes immediately shined when I heard Rye's voice. "Hi! How are you?" Na-excite ako bigla. I can hear his low chuckle from the phone. "Can you go outside?" He asked. Naguluhan din ako kasi ang random naman. 

Tumingin ako sa bintana at nakita ko agad si Rye sa labas. My eyes widened and I hurriedly went to check my face. Nagmamadali akong nag-ayos at lumabas. 

"I thought you were in Baguio!" Salubong ko sa kanya. "Well, change of plans." He said, kissing my hand. "Nakakagulat ka! How did you know that I was here?" I let out a small laugh. "Abi posted your villa and placed the location," He laughed and held my hand. 

"Do you wanna walk near the seashore?" He asked. Sakto din kasi nagsisimula ng lumubog ang araw. "I want that!" I said, excitement was evident in my voice. 

We were holding each other's hands while walking near the shore under the orange sunset. We were talking about random things, we were also picking sea shells. We stopped for a while when he wrote something in the sand.

I took a picture of it. I got mad when he tried to erased it. "Wait lang, Rae. Mas maganda to," He said. Magkasalubong ang kilay ko ngayon habang hinihintay ang kanyang sinusulat.

I was actually caught off guard by his move. I smiled at him as I wrote my reply. I grabbed a small sea shell and wrote my answer.

"Are you sure? Totoo ba?" He looked at me. "Rae, ha. Hindi magandang biro, parang sasabog yung dibdib ko," He added while slapping his chest. "You dummy, you've been courting me for a while now. I'm very sure this is not a joke," I chuckled and splash him with a little water. 

Nakatulala siya habang tumatawa ako. Tumakbo ako palayo sa kanya habang tinatalsikan siya ng tubig. He wiped his face and chased me. 

"Rae! Pag ikaw nahuli ko!" He shouted. "Ano?" I teased him. I laughed so hard while he was chasing me but then nakahabol siya.

"Got you," He hugged me from the back as we both laugh together. 

"Thank you for accepting my love, Rae. Without doubt, I will continue to choose you every day, my ray of sunshine," He whispered. We were facing the vast sea, under the colorful sky. "Let's be each other's safe love," I answered.
