Part 7: the first rumble

I woke up the next morning with my head pounding and the lights brighter then hell. I noticed that darry was sitting in a chair that was in my room and soda was sitting at the end of my bed.

"jesus what happened last night"
i say grabbing a pillow and putting it over my eyes.

"it's called drinking alcohol kiddo" darry says getting up from the chair

"i'll go get started on breakfast"
darry says leaving the room

I quickly grab the bucket from the side of my bed and throw up.

"jeez bev.. no more alcohol for you" soda says helping me hold onto the bucket.
I respond by sighing and laying my head back on my pillow.

"bev... what has been bothering you" soda says out of the blue.

"what do you mean?" i ask suspiciously.

"i don't know.. you've just been acting different lately... you know your like family to me you can always tell me what's wrong" soda says gently

i sigh again
"i can trust you right?"

"always"

"the night me and pony got into a fight about this soc named cherry. i told him that i like him.. which was true and i ended up ignoring him which i don't know why i did... and then the next morning i found out he was walking cherry.. I then asked johnny if he could be my fake boyfriend to make pony jealous so then he would leave cherry" I explain "but i don't don't know if it's working"

"beverly.. did you even think about the consequences?" he say's a little annoyed and confused

"ugh..no" i say closing my eyes.

"maybe you just need to explain to pony and talk to him. he'll understand"

"oh yeah totally he will understand" i say sarcastically.

soda then leaves the room and eventually i fall asleep again and take a nap.

JOHNNY

i arrive at the curtis' house and knock on the door.

soda then comes to the door and opens it
"oh hey johnny.. beverly's not awake right now but i'll go wake her"

soda says leaving. pony was sitting on the couch the entire time just staring at the wall.
I sit there with my head down trying to ignore the embarrassing silence between us.

"so.. you and bev really dating huh?" he finally lets out

"yep" i say rocking back forth.

pony is my bestfriend. i don't want to lose that over some girl.

"pony"

"yeah" he says with a blank face still staring at the wall.

"i-i don't want our friendship to be ruined over a girl" i finally say

he finally stops staring at the wall and looks at me

"neither do i johnny" pony says

"let's still be friends.. alright?" i say

"alright" he says still sitting there watching tv.
atleast we are at peace now.

soon beverly comes walking out. she walks past pony and out the door to me.

"johnny what are you doing here?" she says closing the door

"i don't know.. I just thought because we are "dating" we should hang out"

she lets out a laugh as we start walking down the road.

"bev.. do you by any chance remember anything last night?" i ask hoping she doesn't remember the 'almost kiss'
