Part 11: i like you

we were left with a moment of silence which was usual for us.. the fire was crackling and grasshoppers were chirping loudly.

"beverly.. can i tell you something as well" he asks gently

i didn't say anything i just approved in silence.

he sat up taking a deep breath and gulped.

"i like you"

I sat up quickly once he said that and i turned to look at him.

"what?"

"i've liked you for the longest time bev.. ever since we were kids. you are just so beautiful and kind.. your not like a normal greaser, you care for people and you are a good person. I don't want to be fake dating you.. I want to date you like actual dating"

I stared into his deep brown eyes. he looked nervous.

"johnny.. I-i like you to"
i say looking down and then looking back up at him

"i think my feelings grew for you when we started pretending to date. i feel like it just brought me closer to you, and we got to know eachother better. i don't want to be fake dating either."

He stares into my eyes while i stare into his.
our faces inching closer and closer before we were met with a kiss. this wasn't like the other kiss we had, this one was more passionate and heartfelt.
we heard footsteps approaching and we quickly broke the kiss.

pony comes around the corner "sorry guys curly wanted to show me something"

me and johnny stood up with pony.

"what's with you guys?" pony says looking at johnny confused

johnny scratches the back of his head
"um nothing"

we all sit back down and pony throws some more wood in the fire.
we all lay down and stare at the stars. pony and johnny start talking but i was to tired to pay attention. I eventually fell asleep.

"pony! bev! get up!" johnny says shaking both of us

johnny keeps shaking us as we rub our eyes
"we fell asleep!"

"what time is it?" pony mumbles

"i don't know man but it's definitely to late for you guys to be out here"

"what is darry gonna say?" pony mumbles again.

through all of this i stayed laying down with my eyes closed

"beverly get up! darry is probably looking for you"

"i'd be the last thing on his mind.. he doesn't care about me" i say turning around on my side and crossing my arms as i try to find a comfortable spot.

pony groans
"beverly come on.. darry's more worried about you then me"

"i'll be fine.. tell him i'm fine if he even bothers to ask about me. i'm staying here"

"i'll stay with bev it's not like my folks care anyway" johnny says a little angry.

"okay.. well if you guys get cold come to my house" pony says as he runs off
