The man sighs with a worried frown, coming out of the shower after his work. He watches Yuuji sleep on their bed for a few moments before he lays down himself. Just as he is about to take his wife into his arms, a mouth takes shape on the boy’s cheek, and a moment later, the marking above it snaps open. Satoru has a staring contest with a red eye boring into him angrily. Then Sukuna grins.
“Are you having fun with your little wife?” He purrs.
Satoru glares heatedly. “As I thought, you did something.” He growls, infuriated. “If you hurt Yuuji, I swear, I will find a way to make you pay for it, Sukuna.” He declares in a low voice.
“Me?” He asks incredulously. “Me, hurting Brat?” Sukuna cackles, amused, as if it's a joke. “How ironic to hear it from the source of Brat’s current pain.” He grumbles with a mocking smirk.
The man freezes. Then he shakes his head, deciding not to let himself lose his composure.
“I don't believe every single word coming from you.” He spits viciously.
Sukuna squints his eye and grins again. “Hooo? Should I tell you something even more surprising then?” He snickers. “This body here sleeping so soundly is actually empty.” He says slowly, and Satoru grits his teeth. “Brat’s consciousness is currently asleep in my domain, laying on my bed, hugging my pillow, with my hand petting his hair so he won't wake up accidentally and hear this lovely conversation.” He claims and chortles loudly. “Want to know more? Brat is there completely willingly!” He exclaims and then cackles, thrilled.
Satoru is clenching his fists, boiling with rage. “How dare you.” He drawls, feeling his cursed energy leaking yet ignoring it. “How dare you lie about Yuuji like that.” He hisses.
Sukuna sighs exaggeratedly. “I see. You are also a fool.” His smirk drops suddenly, the atmosphere getting thick with his ill intent. “Yet you should mark my words, Gojou Satoru, as I only speak the truth itself. I'm warning you. I'm sick of feeling all those painful emotions from my vessel. Better fix it. I will be watching. Your. Every. Move.” He grumbles slowly and disappears.
The man observes Yuuji for a couple of moments, feeling oddly on edge and bothered by Sukuna's words. He doesn't believe him. No. He doesn't want to believe him.
Because it implies that Satoru is the one to make Yuuji all withdraw.
He can't stand the thought.
_______________Satoru tries to be patient and understanding, he tries really, really hard, but it's just not working anymore. Yuuji is pulling away more and more every single day, and the man was never this anxious in his entire life. Because the thought of his wife not trusting him twists his insides. Satoru can't stand it.
Sukuna’s advice still echoes in his mind, making him uneasy and unsure. Yet, that's exactly what the man decides to do. Whatever is happening with Yuu-chan, Satoru is going to fix it, no matter what. He has to.
When he gets a call that their wedding rings are ready, the man formulates a plan. He makes sure that they are both free the next evening to take his wife on a date. Satoru picks up the rings from the store beforehand, then makes a reservation at one of the best restaurants in Tokyo with an amazing view of the city panorama. They will have a nice meal, and then the man is going to give his wife proper proof of their marriage. Just to let Yuu-chan know that he cares. Whatever is happening with the boy right now, they can go through it together. And everything will be okay.
Yuuji doesn't share the enthusiasm.
Satoru catches the boy talking with Sukuna in their kitchen this time, which instantly ticks him off, but the mouth disappears, and the boy looks at him hesitantly from the sink… Is he cleaning the entire house? That's also a bad sign. The man frowns, but then shakes his head and smiles at his wife.
“We are going on a date, Yuu-chan~” He states, coming to hug his wife from behind.
The way Yuuji tenses at the touch makes Satoru grit his teeth. He really seems to be an issue. But he doesn't understand. The boy is not telling him anything.
“Oh.” Yuu-chan utters while scrubbing the sink, then pauses. “Is this necessary, Toru?” He asks quietly, gripping the sponge tightly.
The man needs to refrain from doing something stupid like screaming at his wife and demanding answers or squishing him into his chest until Yuuji starts talking to him properly. He takes a deep breath, ignoring the twisting insides, and hums cheerfully.
Yuu-chan hangs his head in defeat. “I understand. I will get ready.” He says dispassionately.
Satoru wants to shake him aggressively. He wants to ask why being around him is not enjoyable anymore. He wants to hug his wife close and kiss him. Comfort him. He doesn't. He lets go of the boy reluctantly and leaves the kitchen.
It's the soft “Brat” that makes him stop. Since when does Sukuna sound like this while talking to Yuuji? The man stands behind the door and listens.
“I don't know how long I can still take it, Sukuna.” Is the boy's response, and Satoru's heart breaks not at the words but at the tone so full of pain that he almost gets back there in an instant to take Yuuji into his arms. He doesn't. He just frowns in worry, trying to figure out the meaning.
Maybe… maybe the boy doesn't want to be his wife anymore?
