That's also odd. Since when is the King of Curses so helpful and almost considerate to anyone? But she witnessed it herself, when Sukuna was demanding to know if the pills she prescribed were safe and had some side effects. One of the weirdest exchanges in her entire career was explaining to someone who lived decades ago what vitamins and electrolytes are.
Yuuji gags suddenly, and she is quickly snapped from her thoughts to the present. “Feel like throwing up again?” She frowns in concern, ready to give him a bowl.
“Um, no.” The boy utters, making a crooked smile and bringing his hand to cover his mouth and nose. “I'm sorry, Ieiri-sensei. It's just that the coffee smell is very unpleasant for me.” He murmurs from there, eyeing the cup in her hands with disdain.
Shouko looks at her coffee and blinks. “Oh. I guess not everyone likes the smell. Sorry about that, Yuuji.” She apologizes, then takes it back to her desk.
“Is this another tomato situation?” She hears Satoru asking playfully. “You never reacted like this to coffee before.”
“No, Toru. I told you that the tomatoes were just bad or something.” Yuuji sighs.
“And I told you that the soup was delicious. Maybe there is something wrong with your taste buds.” The man points.
Shouko freezes. She didn't know about that part. The woman goes through all the symptoms in her mind again. Dizziness, fatigue, faintness, paleness, abdominal pain, nausea, food aversion, peeing, and the fact that Yuuji's red blood cells and iron levels are so low... It sounds suspiciously like pregnancy. No, no way. But all the symptoms—all of them—match too well. Fuck. There is one more thing. She has to know!
“Yuuji.” The woman calls and looks at the boy while squinting her eyes. “Is your breast tender?” She asks and holds her breath.
“Eh? How do you know, Ieiri-sensei?” The boy mumbles in disbelief.
She tries to process it. Fails. Tries again while glaring at Satoru. Yeah. He could. If Shouko is right, she is going to murder him. But first, she needs to check with Yuuji. Alone.
“Out.” The woman barks, and they both blink at her, surprised. “Satoru, out.” She corrects and points at the door.
“Why?!” He exclaims, shocked. “I haven't done anything!” The man whines, offended.
“Oh, I'm afraid you did plenty.” Shouko can't help but sneer, and then takes a deep breath to stay professional. “I need to talk with Yuuji without you for a moment. So out.” The woman repeats through her teeth.
“I refuse. That's my wife, and I'm his guardian. Whatever you figured out, and I can see that you did, I'm not leaving. I have the right to be here.” Satoru opposes, sitting even closer to the boy.
“Toru.” Yuuji placates softly, and the man glances at him.
They hold eye contact until her friend or ex-friend, depending on the following conversation, pouts and looks at her accusingly.
“Fine.” He mutters like a child forbidden from eating candy and leaves the room, closing the door loudly.
And this man might be a future father? Shouko closes her eyes for a second, shakes her head, and then approaches the boy slowly, pondering how to take the truth out of him without making it awkward and letting him know that he can trust her.“Yuuji.” She starts with a soft tone and crouches down to his level, taking his hands into her own. “I need you to be honest with me. I'm a doctor, and if you wish, this conversation won't ever leave the room, okay?” The woman assures him.
Yuuji frowns and nods unsurely. “Okay?” He sounds confused.
Shouko takes a deep breath. “Have you and Satoru had sex?” She fires.
“Yes.” No hesitation or shame, just puzzlement.
She blinks, taken aback. “Was it consensual?” She has to prod, fearing the answer.
The boy looks at her with such indignation that the woman raises her eyebrows, flabbergasted. He pulls his hands away from her hold with a frown.
“Why is everyone assuming that Satoru forced me to do anything?” He fums suddenly, angered. “My husband is kind to me. He loves me. He wouldn't hurt me.” Yuuji states with confidence, his eyes serious.
Shouko gapes. Because…
“He loves you?” She mumbles, dumbfounded.
“Of course he does!” The boy confirms heatedly and then falters. “I mean, I wasn't sure myself, but after talking it out, it turned out that our feelings are mutual.” He smiles shyly.
That's the first time she hears about it.
“So, your marriage is…”
“Real.” Yuuji ends with a beaming smile.
He looks so happy that Shouko is unable to deny it. What the hell? Gojou Satoru, the biggest self-centered asshole on this earth loving someone? Well, now that she has this information and compares it to his behavior towards Yuuji… Hm. It oddly makes sense.
“Did Toru forget to tell everyone who knew we were pretending?” The boy wonders aloud, making a thoughtful face. “I guess it came so naturally to us that we didn't really think about revealing it to others.” He chuckles.
“So, you are both in a healthy relationship based on mutual feelings.” Shouko concludes.
“Yes.” Yuuji smiles happily again.
“And sex came as a result of it.” She guesses.“Not really.” The boy admits, laughing sheepishly. “I mean… it kinda happened because I was, um, pushing to get physical?” He offers with a shrug. “I realized I'm in love with Satoru only a bit later.”
The woman blinks. What the hell is wrong with this couple?
She hums, trying not to judge, since that's not her job. This boy needs medical help now. “Are you aware that Satoru is able to impregnate you?” Shouko asks, then squints her eyes in anticipation.
At her words, Sukuna snaps one of Yuuji's markings open and looks at her pointedly, as if wordlessly complaining about how everyone around him is stupid. Oh, no. Oh, no.
“Yes?” Yuuji says and frowns. “Why are you asking, Ieiri-sensei?”
The woman sighs, resigned, preparing herself mentally for a teenage male pregnancy and everything that follows. “Because all of your symptoms are pointing at it.” She admits with a compassionate smile.
A pause.
“At what?” The boy utters with wide eyes.
“Pregnancy, Yuuji.” Shouko says gently. “I believe that you are pregnant.”Also, I used an AI website that gives you a possible diagnosis based on the symptoms to find out if it can be something else, and in Yuuji's case, it said the highest possibility is pregnancy. That was satisfying (~‾▿‾)~ It also pointed at dehydration or heart issues, but the rates were low (• ▽ •;)~
