Y/N's POV

"Hermy!" I shrieked as I hugged my long lost best friend. Well, it hasn't been that long but it feels like it's been years since we last met. I couldn't wait to tell her everything.

Yesterday, after I received Cedric's letter, I made up my mind to go to the World Cup. I was going to go anyways but his letter made me even eager. Maybe this could go somewhere. I mean I'm not hoping for much, after what went down with my ex Ashton, I would be grateful to have a good friendship even if I didn't get a relationship out of it. And Cedric might just be the one to distract me from my recurring unholy thoughts about Harry. Since I absolutely cannot fuck up his chances with Ginny, I needed to keep to my own devices until I was sure they're gonna be together. So I packed up a bag, and told Aberforth I was going to the Granger's and then to the Weasley's and would come back after the World Cup. He was a little moody about it, but came around eventually.

"Y/N!" Hermione held me tightly and giggled in my hair, "I'm so glad you decided to come!"

"I have so much to tell you. So much to talk about. You have no idea what shit went down during the holidays!" I exclaimed.

"Let's go to my room." She dragged me up the stairs to her room. It was located on the first floor of the Granger house and had a bed, a desk, two bookcases, a nightstand, a noticeboard, several framed wall hangings, and a chair. Crookshanks was napping in the corner, on its own fluffy bed.

We both fell on the bed side by side, and I started telling her everything that happened with my (supposed) parents, and Dumbledore, and everything that Aberforth told me about my mother. Hermione gasped at every new information and had to sit upright and cover her mouth with hands to not scream.
Needless to say she was... surprised. That would be the understatement of the century, though.

"So you're telling me your mother was a witch?" She asked, bewildered.

"Uh-huh." I nodded. "And not just that. She was the witch. She could perform magic without a freaking wand, Hermy. Do you know how powerful you have to be to have that kind of control over your magic. You have to be on Dumbledore's level for that, considering he's like a thousand years old."

"And why didn't he tell you this before? Why would he hide something like this from you? You're the only person who deserves to know the truth but he's not giving it to you. I swear, Dumbledore can be so tough to understand at times. Sorry, but I'm still in shock." she sighed and fell back on the bed.

"I know. I don't understand it either. He said it was for my own good but I don't see how."

"I bet he knew who you were when you first came here. That's why he was so quick in letting you join Hogwarts."

"I'm sure he did." I groaned both internally and externally. "I thought I knew everything there was to know about the wizarding world. But everything just got a hell lot more complicated."

"And what was this about Lucius Malfoy? He.. he wanted to take you with him? How dare he... That stupid arse–" she took a deep breath to control her further words. "I mean the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Draco is evil so it's obvious his father is going to be, too. But I can't believe he tried to kidnap you. That's just on another level even for him."

"I don't know, Hermy. He's an actual death eater, so I'm not surprised he tried to do this. I mean after what he did to Ginny in your second year and shit he's about to do in the future, there isn't much I'll put past him."

That made Hermione sit back up. "Wait, what did he do to Ginny?" she asked, confused. "And what is it that he's about to do?"

"Well, first he was the one who gave Tom Riddle's diary to Ginny which led her to be under Voldy's control which led to you being petrified by the basilisk." Hermione let out a exasperated gasp. I continued while nodding, "and for things he's about to do, I can only tell you that it gets worse, Hermione, way way worse."
