Monday

I woke up at 6 a.m. after only getting 2-3 hours of sleep, but at least I got some rest. I got out of bed and went to the bathroom to shower. After showering, I dried and brushed my hair, then styled it in a half up, half down with two pieces in the front. I left the bathroom and put on a black floral lace top with caramel-colored pants, a matching jacket, and a belt, then added black hoop earrings. Did a quick clean makeup look with eyeliner. I put on some deodorant, and a bit of my mom's perfume.

I walked out of my room and gathered everything I needed and wrote a note for Luca to say goodbye. My work starts at 8 a.m, but I want to get there earlier. I skipped breakfast, grabbed my purse, and headed out the door.

Around 15 minutes later, I arrived at the building. I park my car, lock it, and head to the same reception desk.

"Hi, welcome back to Concept!" she says. "Glad to see you got the job, your Gianna right?"

"Yes, but you can call me Gia. What's your name?"

"My name is Alora, nice to meet you. You'll be heading to the 60th floor!" she says with a friendly smile.

"Thank you." I smile back, walking toward the elevator. I click the 60th-floor button and admire the view of New York. I turn around when the doors open and walk toward the front desk. The woman at the desk had a white button-up shirt that created a v-neck, showing cleavage. Her light brown hair was in a sleek ponytail and some gold hoop earrings.

"Hello, how can I help you?"

"Hi, my name is Gianna Aguilar. I'm here for the new position of interior designer."

"Oh..ok, Ms. Aguilar." She starts to type into her computer, prints a picture of me with a barcode, and puts it on a badge. "Here you go, this badge will get you in most places, not all. Let me show you around." She says in a cold tone. As she gets up, she adjusts her black dress pants and comes around from the desk.

I followed her through the door and walked through the workplace. The entire office was bathed in natural light from top to bottom, creating an uplifting and positive atmosphere. To the left, there were two inviting loveseats with a table in between and beautiful plants behind them. She then led me to the lounge, which had a coffee maker and different flavored coffee, sugar, cups, a sink, and a fridge for our lunch.

When we walked towards the right, the working area was very open. Each table has four individual desks decorated with plants and other items. The entire space felt open and relaxed, reminding me that a positive work environment can make all the difference.

"So yeah, that's basically it. There is more to the place, but you don't need to be there yet. Go sit down, and I'll get the boss to let you know you're here." She says walking away, not letting me say anything.

I go and sit down and look around, admiring the place. A minute or 2 later, she comes back with- omg you got to be fucking kidding me. Out of all places, he's my boss. God, I hate that he still looks so good.

"Mr. Clay, this is our new recruit, Gianna Aguilar." the woman says. He walks towards me and goes to shake my hand.

"Nice to meet you, Ms. Aguilar. I'm Elijah Clay, but call me Mr. Clay," he says as he looks down at me with a slight smirk. I stand up and go to shake his hand back.

"Nice to meet you too," I say in a flat tone, looking at him dead in his eyes.

"Let me show you where your own office is." He let go of my hand and encouraged me to follow him.

I follow him through two hallways, and we stop at a door. He steps aside and leans on the doorframe as I open the door. My gaze is drawn to the stunning view of New York City from the spacious room. A bookshelf adorned with a few plants and paintings graces one of the walls, while my desk sits by the window, allowing the natural light to illuminate the space.

"So, this is where you'll be working, the bathroom is right across the hall, and you'll get your workload through me. My office is at the end of the hall, the one with the double doors." He says as I put my stuff on my desk, feeling his eyes all over me.

"Ok," I say, hinting at him wanting him to leave.

"I'll let you get settled, but there is a meeting in 30 mintues about what's happening this week." I nod, noticing that he slightly raised his eyebrow due to his lack of response. But I don't correct myself.

"It's been awhile," he says.

"Can you leave, please," I say, sitting in my chair.

"You know, since I'm your boss now. I'd appreciate a little bit more respect. It'd be such a shame if you'd get fired, you know?" He says with his arms crossed.

"Thank you so much for giving me an office, I can't express how grateful I am. If you ever need any, I'm here to help." I say with a forced smile and with a sarcastic tone.
