Ezra's POV
Orla and I teleported to Haley's cabin immediately.
Haley lay on her stomach in the living room, Ashley on her knees next to her. Blake was holding Emma against the ground, his knee on her back and his hands twisting her arms backward. Emma's head turned to the side, her wide eyes fixed on Haley's paling face. That damn witch.
Haley's heartbeat sounded faint to my ears, the smell of her blood thick in the air. A knife was on the ground between them, the metal glimmering with blood even under the overcast daylight. Blood spread around Haley, a pool of crimson that spread to the rug, the stain glaringly sinister against the cheerful yellow color.
Orla rushed over and dropped to her knees next to Ashley, who was pressing her hands against a wound on Haley's back in an attempt to staunch the bleeding. It wouldn't help unless the wound was cleaned and the wound stitched, and if the wound was deep enough, nothing would help. Except Orla.
I felt her pull of magic, and her hands glowed a soft white that engulfed Haley's back.
I went over to Blake, linking Jason and other warriors to join us. Blake's wolf was close to the surface, his blue eyes glowing. I put my hand on his shoulder, and he relaxed a fraction. The contact with a more dominant wolf put his at ease.
"Tell me what happened?" I linked him, keeping my eyes on Orla. Sweat broke along her hairline. She kept pulling magic. Haley's condition must be bad.
"Haley and I were supposed to meet. She told me to wait for her in her cabin. She must've met Emma over breakfast," he replied. "Emma was behind Haley. Just as they walked into the cabin, she stabbed her in the back. I was too slow to stop it."
Regret thickened his voice. If Haley didn't recover, he would blame himself for it. He already did.
I squeezed his shoulder, right as Orton, Vanessa, Sam and Hale burst through the front door. Orton didn't know Haley's cabin, so he probably teleported to our cabin and Sam guided them here.
Vanessa, Orton and Hale didn't waste any time. They kneeled beside Orla, their magic joining hers, relieving some of the burden. Hale's magic wouldn't help in healing the wound, but it would aid in blood regeneration.
Sam pulled Ashley to her feet. She stared at her bloodied hands. She seemed in a trance. Sam tugged her to the kitchen and helped her wash her hands.
"Sir, we're right outside Haley's cabin," Jason linked me.
"Get in."
Jason strode inside, taking in the scene in a sweeping glance, his nostrils flaring at the scent of blood.
"I want you to take someone to the pack cells."
"Sir, the prison was under attack just now," Jason replied.
"What?"
The prison? I looked at Haley's pale face. Could it be a coincidence? Haley and Jun at the same time?
Sam strode towards us. "Someone is trying to shut him up. Someone who knows you've been sneaking inside to see him."
"Wait, you guys knew?" Blake asked.
Sam raised one eyebrow. "I figured it out a couple of days ago. Zyron allowed it because he thought it might be helpful."
I sighed. Of course Dad would've figured it out. Ashley walked over, looking more determined and less shocked. "Attacking Haley and Jun at the same time meant someone thought he might have told her something important. Or they're afraid that he will."
