Jun's question hung in the air, unanswered. Smug satisfaction radiated off of him at my lack of response.
"Back to business," Zyron growled. "You were talking about the group who defected from the Coalition."
"Ah, yes. The defectors. I don't know much about them, except that they're less organized than the Coalition." He hesitated, and I wondered then if he really was going to tell us everything he knew. He continued. "They also seem to have an alliance with one of your enemies."
"Let me guess," Ezra said, his eyes flashing. "The Mutineers."
Zyron froze. A drop of his power seeped through, charging the air in the room. Dad's eyes narrowed.
"The Mutineers are the rebel group responsible for kidnapping Ezra and his siblings eight years ago," I linked him. Understanding flashed in his eyes.
So the Mutineers were involved with the defectors. All the possible implications of such an alliance made my head spin.
Did they know about my existence even then? Did they know that Ezra would be my mate? Ezra and I looked at each other. Did his siblings' death have anything to do with us?
"What do you know about it?" Ezra asked Jun.
"I don't know much about the attack on the werewolf king's children, except what everyone does, I assume. It was a famous affair. I knew the Coalition had nothing to do with it. But I was still new to the Coalition back then, so..."
So the Coalition could very well be involved as well. I felt a headache throbbing behind my eyes.
"And the weapons?" I asked. "The blade you and your friend had. What is it exactly? Where did you get it?"
Jun's jaw ticked. "They give us the weapons."
"And you don't ask questions?" Dad said. Jun shrugged and kept his lips sealed. I guess the weapons were a red line as well.
Zyron rubbed his clenched jaw, dark eyes stormy.
"Alright, give us the names you already know are involved in the Coalition," Zyron said.
Jun counted on the fingers of his right hand. "Killian Margot, a witch, is my direct contact to the fourth order of the Coalition. Sandra Lee, a werewolf, is a member of the fifth Order. And Frederick Skatowski, a vampire. He's a member of the fourth Order. He's also Josephine's direct contact."
I didn't recognize any of the names except, Josephine, Emma's mother, and Frederick. But was it the same Frederick?
"That bastard." Zyron chuckled darkly, confirming my suspicions. He looked at Jun closely, making the witch squirm. "What do you know about a mole in my pack?"
Jun grinned. A brief flash of teeth. "Not as much as you'd like, I'm sure. All I know is that they've been working together with the Coalition for years. The higher ups protect his or her identity. That's all I know."
"I see," Zyron said. Then lapsed into thoughtful silence. He and my father stared at each other for several minutes, their silence thoughtful. What were they discussing?
"I bet this bastard isn't telling us everything he knows," Ezra linked me.
"Still, it's a good beginning," I replied.
Zyron finally turned to Haley, his face softened. "Would you like him to stay with you for a while, Haley?"
Haley's eyes sparked with hope. "If it's possible."
