Tyler is at UConn to go to school and play basketball but she just keeps getting distracted by a certain brunette and what confuses her the most she can't ever seem to get the Croatian out of her mind
You hadn't told anyone on the team or your family that you were dating nika it's not like you wanted to hide that from anyone but just in the first week of dating but unexpected things always seem to happen to you
You had to head home for a quick trip which geno allowed you to once you explained your situation
"Hey call me when you get to your house okay" nika says cupping your cheek kissing you one last time before you leave her for a couple days
You kiss nika back softly
"I will niks I'll call you to okay I promise" you say hugging her one more time before getting into your car to drive home
You had gotten a call the other night late from your mom and she explained how her best friend lily had just passed away she also happened to be your ex boyfriend Blake's mom
Once you arrive at your house and pull into the drive way you see Blake's car you suck in a shaky breath before stepping out of your car walking back into your childhood home
Almost immediately you picked up in a hug from your brothers Finn and Derek holding on to you tightly
"There's my boys" you say softly taking in their identical faces but you've always been able to tell them apart your mom always said it was your super power even when they were newborn you would know before checking the hospital bracelets

You hear someone gasp from behind you and you spin around to see your mom
She rushes to you grabbing you from the twins and holding you tightly
"Hi mommy" you say with the little air you have left from the right hug
You hear your mom sniffling into your shoulder
"Blake's here Tyler because she's gone she's really gone" your mom says crying
After while of talking to your mom and making sure she's okay you go up to your room to call nika feeling your anxiety bubbling up
This is the one thing you don't miss about being home is everyone always relying on you so much pressure on your shoulders all the time to take care of your mom and brothers just like you promised your dad all those years ago
When you open your room door you see Blake asleep on your bed you close the door rushing down stair grabbing your keys you need to hear nika

"Baby" nika says worried
You start to tear up feeling overwhelmed
"Niks I just needed to hear your voice" you say voice wavering
You hear nika close a door
"Hey where are you honey are you somewhere safe"nika asks worried
You gulp down the tears
Your parked at the cemetery your dad is buried at
"I'm parked at the cemetery" you say crying
"Hey that's good baby what has you so upset" nika asks
"I can't be home nika I'm not strong enough for them" you say exhausted
"Don't say that baby you're plenty strong do you wanna FaceTime me" nika asks softly
"Yes please" you whisper
The FaceTime notification pops up you answer right away

"There's my gorgeous girl" nika says softly smiling at you
"Nika there's so much I haven't told you" you say honestly feeling the guilt eating you alive
"Then tell me baby I'm in my room so it's just you and me no one else is around" nika says softly
Your lip quivers trying to find the words to tell her everything that you almost never trust people with this information
"When I said my dad wasn't in my life it's because he died from cancer when I was only six and I'm parked at the cemetery he's buried at right now" you explain
Nika just nods doesn't say anything seeing as you Have more to get off your chest
"And he made me promise that I would take care of my mom and the twins and I try my hardest I really do but now I just can't seem to do anything right" you sigh running a hand over your face wiping your tears
Nika offers you a soft smile listening and keeping eye contact with you
"And my moms best friend lily just died and she needs me and the twins need me and fucking Blake needs me and nika Blake's my ex but his mom was lily and now he has no one and I wanted to sleep and he was asleep in my bed and so feel like I'm a horrible person" you say breaking down crying again
"Hey take a deep breath ty it's not your responsibility to take care of everyone this is your life Ty and I don't care about your ex I trust you and I'm not scared or being replaced because I know you so how about this since tomorrows the weekend I'll drive and spend the weekend with you" nika offers
You perk up
"Wait really you would do that" you say shocked
"Of course Ty now get home safe and get some sleep baby"nika says before ending the call
When you get home you join your mom in her bed for the night
