I saw Tyler was open and passed her the ball when next thing I know the guy that was guarding Tyler shoved her
I saw red
He acted like it was nothing
Paige got to Tyler before I could helping her to sit down on the bench
I stormed up to the guard and shoved him
"What the fuck nika" he yelled
" don't what the fuck me you fucking shoved her for no reason" you yelled
You could feel everyone around you staring but you didn't care the shove wasn't needed
"In games you guys get shoved all the time so she needs to be prepared" he argues
You shove him again harder causing him to stumble back
"NIKA STOP" Geno yelled
You looked at him fuming he wasn't gonna do anything so fucking stupid
You march up to him livid
"Gramps he can't just fucking shove us" you argue
"Nika calm down I know he won't be coming back to our practices let me handle it though go take a breather" geno says before walking off to check on Tyler who's being taken care of by Paige
You storm out of the gym listening to geno
Trusting that's gramps will take care of what happened
You find yourself the nearest bathroom
"What the fuck why do I care about her so much" you scream slamming the stall door
All you kept seeing was Tyler being shoved to the ground
"Goddammit get a grip Nika" you say to yourself splashing water in your face
Next thing you know you hear Tyler behind you
"Niks" Tyler says cautiously
You look up in the mirror to see a worried Tyler standing behind you worry written all over her face
You grab paper towels to rush to dry your face and hands
"Oh my god Ty what are you doing here are you alright" you rush out saying
You look all over her resting your hand on her cheek softly
"Nika I'm fine I promise are you okay" Tyler asks worried
You wrap your arms around Tyler pulling her into your embrace and rest your head in the crook of her neck taking in Tyler's embrace
Tyler gasps softly taken back
Tyler rubs your back gently
"Ty I was so worried he could have seriously hurt you on purpose" you whisper in the embrace
"Nika but he didn't I'm okay" Tyler says trying to reassure you
When you pull back from the embrace you look at Tyler just taking in how she's just an embodiment of sunshine
"Nika practice is over now do you wanna come to my place" Tyler asks nervously fidgeting with her hands
Your taken back by how nervous Tyler seems right now
"Of course I'll drive" you say abruptly
"Nika my cars here it's okay we can ride separately" Tyler tries to reason
"No I'll just drive you to practice tomorrow morning no worries plus you like my car" you say winking
Tyler turns bright pink from blushing
"Well Nika who doesn't like being driven around" Tyler says starting to laugh
You wrap your arm around Tyler leading her out to your locker room than to your car
You open the door for Tyler as she slides into the passenger seat
At Tyler's apartment you end up cuddled up in Tyler's bed watching movies for the rest of the day
You've come to learn Tyler loves physical touch and movies
But not scary movies she's more of a Disney or cartoon movie person
During watching zootopia Tyler's phone starts ringing so you pause the movie
She answers the FaceTime immediately
"Hi mom" Tyler says waving at her mom on the phone
"Hi sweetie how was practice today" she asks
"It was long but really good learned some better techniques today to help with long range shots" she explains excitedly
"Oh that's great dear who is that" she asks seeing your dark hair in the corner of the camera
"Oh sorry mom this is Nika my friend" Tyler says turning the camera towards you
You wave to her mom smiling
" oh hi Nika it's so nice to meet you I haven't met any of her new friends yet" her mom says excited
Tyler rolls her eyes laughing
"Mom it's just you call when no one is over that all" Tyler argues
"It's nice to meet you ms.boss" you say cheerfully
After a little longer her mom passes the phone to Tyler's younger twin brother who were talking about how soccer and footballs been going
After the phone call ends Tyler sits up looking at you
"Thank you for that niks my mom gets worried about me" Tyler says honestly
"Of course families important Tyler I like how much you care about your family" you say smiling
"I miss them but I love it here honestly" Tyler says laughing Nervously
"Ty that's good don't worry I facetime my family every morning relax it's okay let's finish the movie" you change the subject as Tyler relaxes back into your embrace
Not much later you and Tyler fall asleep for the night
