The big game

Tyler's pov

Today was your first official game as a UConn husky and you could feel the excitement and anxiety bubbling up in you

Nika had given you a very good pep talk this morning but you couldn't let her or the team down you just couldn't you wouldn't allow yourself to do that to the team to geno especially not to Nika she deserves the best season of her life

Putting  on the number four for the first time in months since graduating high school Katie had braided your hair into two Dutch braids which was great because it would keep it out of your face during the game your mom always used to braid your hair before all of your highschool games so it was a little bitter sweet

The locker room was quiet some chit chat along the group but mostly quiet

Nika sits down beside you pecking you on the cheek softly causing you to blush automatically turning beat red

"How's my star girl doing" Nika asks softly not wanting to drawl attention to the two of you int the locker room

"I'm doing good Nika just getting ready for my first UConn game I need to make a good impression to all the crowd" you say

" they will love you Ty just you wait till they see you and Paige shooting three after three after three gonna be such a power duo" Nika says smiling at you brightly before separating as coach geno walks in for the pre game pep talk

"Now listen this is our first game as a new team but that doesn't mean I expect anything less from y'all I still expect only the best and I need to see passing and team work out there don't be selfish if you don't have the shot don't shoot pass to someone who has a better shot and don't always go for three shots just because you want to go for a shot you know you'll make make sure to be putting points on the board now go out there and show them what UConn women's basketball is all about" geno says

You call cheer before lining up to run out once out on the court with the lights shining all around different colors and the crowd roaring you feel immense pride start to take over you

Warming up you and kk partner up running passes and taking shots

Once the game starts your on the bench which you didn't expect anything less your only a freshman and their are much better players on the team who you can also tell is a big part of this team

You cheer loud and proudly from the bench Paige and azzi are firing off three pointers and Nika is locking up being the secretary of defense your so dang proud of her it's not even funny how much of a Nika fan you are

UConn is up by twenty five points and geno sends you in for Aliyah as she's taken a few personal fouls

When you check in you hug Aliyah and as you run on fixing your shoes and tucking in your jersey you high five everyone while checking in Nika smacks your butt playfully you send her a cheeky wink with a soft smile

Nika runs the ball down and passes it to you your being well covered so you toss it across to Paige who sends it for a three shot making it flawlessly

Paige runs up to you hugging you

"Assist by boss" the announcer roars as the cheer erupts

"This freshman is really gonna prove why she's here" the announcer comments

Nika scores another three and you get fouled being knocked down

You have two free throws to say you weren't nervous would be a blatant lie you were shaking with fear UConn was already winning it this was your time to prove why you were here

You bounce the ball twice than shoot

Swish it went it you high-five Nika and Paige before drying off your hands in your shorts preparing for your second free throw

You bounce the ball and shoot

The ball swirls around the hoop slowly you hold your breath watching the basketball almost in slow motion anticipation building up

It sinks in after swirling around twice

The crowd erupts Nika picking you up in celebration the rest of the team joining soon after

A few seconds left UConn has the ball and the lead Nika passes it to you you dribble and fake out the defender being open you take a step before jumping and shooting

The ball soars through the sky hitting the back board and swishing into the net you hair scored your first three pointer for UConn

"And just like that folks Tyler boss is making a name for her self only her first game and already scored twelve points and ten assists" the announcer screams as the crowd erupts screaming your name

As the clock runs out you run to Nika jumping into her loving embrace

" my star girl you proved them just how amazing you are baby" Nika says excited

You and the night cuddled up in bed with your loving girlfriend the fucking secretary of deference and she was all yours

"We must be the fucking hottest power couple in college basketball right now baby" Nika says watching TikTok edits of you that Paige had sent her

"Stop watching those Nika it's weird" you say laughing at how dorky Nika was
