Tyler is at UConn to go to school and play basketball but she just keeps getting distracted by a certain brunette and what confuses her the most she can't ever seem to get the Croatian out of her mind
You couldn't figure out who Tyler boss was you've stalked her instagram to try and learn anything about the freshman but for the life of you she was like a brick wall would open up enough for anyone to get to close
You had noticed every night she goes and plays basketball till almost one am and then does the same thing every night
You've texted Tyler but all you ever get is her saying she's fine and doesn't need any of your help
She's been surprising the team at how easily she picks up the teams plays and how she will play anywhere she's needed you've really grown to respect Tyler this first week always giving a helping hand but she just seemed to avoid you
Which was really starting to poss you off because you really wanted to get to know more about her but no matter how much you tried she wouldn't budge
Tonight you had a plan when she goes to play basketball you'll join her a couple minutes after you want to be friends with Tyler but you've gotta gain her trust first
So you heard Tyler's apartment door close and put your shoes on and headed down to the basketball court a few minutes after her
Once you enter the court Tyler turns and looks at you confused
"Nika what are you doing out here" tyler asks confused
"I wanted to get some extra practice in" you say calmly
"Can I join Tyler" you ask smirking
Tyler smirks back and passes you the ball
After about an hour of passing and playing back and forth you both sit down to take a breather
"Boss why do you play so hard to get" you ask
"Because I have priorities nika" tyler says seriously
You're taken back by the change of tone
"Woah tyler no need to get angry" you say shocked
"Look nika I've just gotta prove my worth here to the team and my family" tyler says sighing
"I get that Tyler but you can't burn out this early because your pushing yourself too far to early" you reason
"I won't okay nika can we just practice more" tyler says impatiently
"No sit down we're talking Ty" you say seriously when Tyler saw your face she sat back down quietly without arguing
"As your junior I'm not gonna let you burn out so your gonna learn to listen to me Tyler and that starts with hanging out with me and the rest of the team outside of just practicing" you say
"No I am busy I don't just have time to hangout" tyler argues
Nika sighs frustrated
"Do I need to talk to coach because your starting to worry me it's only your first week and you've only hung out with the team at practice nothing out of practice enjoy college a little" you say patting Tyler's shoulder
"Fine I'll hang out with the team" tyler says
"Good now let's go eat" you say standing up
"What no we're practicing" Tyler say shocked
You put your hand down to help tyler up
Tyler doesn't take your hand and keeps sitting down
"Ethier grab my hand or so help me I'll carry you to my car" you threaten
After a minute Tyler still hadn't budges so you picked her up and threw her over your shoulder walking towards your car
"Nika what the fuck let me down"tyler screams
"No you didn't listen so I did just like I said I would" you say
Once at your car you plop Tyler down into the passenger seat before hopping into the driver's seat
"We're gonna learn more about each other it is helpful to trust each other on and off the court Ty" you reason
Once picking up shakes and fries for both of you you park the car to enjoy the food
"So why UConn" you ask eating a fry
Tyler takes a sip from her shake before answering
"They offered me a full ride and I love the campus" tyler says smiling
"Now it's your turn to ask" you explain
"Oh okay where are you from" tyler asks
"I'm from Croatia" you say smirking when she looks shocked
"That's crazy far nika don't you miss your family" tyler says
"Of course I miss my family but I'm doing this for them and UConn girls are my home away from home" you explain
"What about your family" you ask
"I live with my mom and little twin brothers" tyler says smiling
"Aww you have a younger sibling too I have a little sister miss her so much" you say
Tyler smiles at that
"I love being a big sister they keep me on my toes but I wouldn't trade them for the world" tyler says
After awhile of just talking you learn a lot more about her
"See that was fun next time I won't have to drag your ass to a hangout" yoy say laughing
Tyler joins you in laughing
"Yeah your right thanks nika honestly I really enjoyed this i tend to close myself off from people so thanks for helping me out" tyler says grabbing your hand softly
You feel blush creep up your cheeks
"Of course Ty what are friends for" you say squeezing her hand back softly
Once back at the apartments you walk Tyler to her door
"Thanks neighbor I had a lot of fun" tyler says
"Of course Ty always what are neighbors for if not dragging you to get shakes and fries" you say laughing
Tyler wraps you in a hug before going into her apartment
You freeze at the feeling of butterflies in your stomach from the hug
You walk into your apartment and Paige and azzi are cuddling on the couch
"How was Tyler" Paige asks wiggling her eyebrows
Azzi slaps Paige making her stop
"She's opening up to me I think she's gonna do just fine here" you say smiling excited to see what happens for the sweet freshman
That night you text Tyler
And she actually texted by right away
