The Stables

"I was thinking I could go see the animals" I said walking around looking at the different books on the shelf, "I'm not doing anything here anyways"

"It's called learning"

I swirled around to look at Missy at her desk, "and what is there to learn? This job is boring. I've done absolutely nothing all day"

"You haven't cared to"

"I have to" I jumped on the sit in front of her, "you just haven't cared to let me in on anything"

"Koi" Missy sighed setting down her glasses, "I've tried teaching you how to run things around here. You don't care-"

I groaned loudly making her stop talking. I got up and walked over to the window looking out at the ocean. I haven't even been yet. It's just right around the corner.

"I don't care to sit and read all day long. I want to be out there with the others"

"First you need to learn what to do out there before going out there"

I turned back around looking back at the woman who sat at her desk. I walked back over to her as she watched me, "I get that. You can do the reading, I'll go out-"

"No. You'll do reading also"

"I don't know how to read!" I raised my arms up and sat in front of her, "or at least not a lot. I know very little"

"Then I'll teach you"

I scooted the chair up to her desk and leaned forward pointing to the papers, "I won't care to and it'll just be a waste of your time. Just let me run your errands"

"You stated you didn't want to"

"I do now!" I shrugged, "anything to get me out of here"

Missy stared at me for a moment, "fine"

"Yes" I fist bumped the air

"It's very important you do these things correctly"

"Yeah, yeah" I waved her off, "do I at least get a partner for these errands? Dar seems to like my company"

Missy smiled, "Darwin likes what he's doing and he likes doing it alone"

"Probably cause he doesn't have me until now"

Missy clasp her hands together, "go see the animals, when you get back we'll have a discussion on what errands you'll be doing tomorrow"

I smiled at my accomplishment. I'm good at getting my way. I stood up ready to leave to go see the animals, and Felix of course, but had a question.

"Can I ask you something, Missy?"

"You can ask me anything"

"Why didn't you ask how I was feeling yesterday when you came to wake me up?"

She sighed looking down, "you looked in no condition to talk in that moment"

"But we talked about my dreams"

"We did" she motioned for me to sit, "but I feel like there's a little more to it"

"What do you mean?"

She couldn't have possibly known anything. I'll just get a little more out of her before I go see Felix. Then I'll let the boys know later.

"In the shower" she started, "you were talking to yourself. You repeated no multiple times and wouldn't answer me. That couldn't have been part of your dreams you talk about"

I nodded, "I don't think I was fully awake yet. I get scared just thinking about them"

"Koi" she reached out and grabbed my hands, "your eyes had turned solid white. You were not dreaming"
