Some Scars Never Heal
It was almost eclipse when Yayora had finally finished unpacking their things. Her mother's visor, her aunt's bow and arrow, and her father's necklace significantly put in their own special place.
A'tok had run off to the Sully mauri, which was just next door, to play with Tuk.
Yayora walks over to her next door neighbours and knocks on the mauri walls.
They all look up to see her. "Tsireya says we're allowed to have dinner within our families tonight, instead of with the entire clan. I'm about to go hunting for some fish, care to have dinner together?" She asks.
Neytiri smiles at her proposal, "Of course. The girls and I will go get fruits and herbs and other things. While Neteyam and Lo'ak start the cooking area. Jake has just gone to thank Tonowari."
Yayora nods before running to the back of the entire village and calling for Tanhì.
Tanhì happily comes down from the Mangrove Trees and squawks. Yayora jumps on top of her and makes tsaheylu before leading her to the water.
She then readies the net in her hand before diving in with Tanhì. They arise from the water with a bunch of fish in the net.
"Okay, this is more than enough for all of us." Yayora clips the net shut.
She looks down where Aonung, Tsireya, Rotxo and a couple other kids looked up at her.
She smiles down at them before rubbing Tanhì's head, breaking Tsaheylu and diving into the water.
She gracefully swims over to shore, slowly emerging from the water as she flips her braids over her shoulder, the sound of beads clashing as she makes eye contact with the kids looking at her.
She casually walks back to the Sully marui.
With the Metkayina kids..
"Who's she?" Koro asks as he stares down the girl. Aonung scoffs as the boy doesn't look away.
"That's Yayora, the girl that I used to play with when I was a kid," Tsireya replies.
"Ohh, the girl that Aonung was too scared to meet," Nashvi's mouth makes an 'o' shape.
"What?" Tsireya asks.
"Oh yeah, this one time he said he was scared that she'd get her ikran and make her eat him or something," Ongu shrugs.
Tsireya covers her mouth with a chuckle as everyone laughs at Aonung's embarrassed face.
"I was 9, but I'm not scared of her now. She's..."
"She's what?" Tsireya raises a brow at her brother.
"A freak and isn't meant to be here. Her and those other forest freaks will never belong." He storms off.
"You're wrong!" Tsireya calls out. She shakes her head at her brother's attitude.
"Don't worry bout him, he'll come around. I mean did you see that girl?" Koro exaggerates,
"She is gorgeous! Her body is built so perfectly and her features line up perfectly. It's only a matter of time before Aonung notices that and makes his attack."
