Have you ever seen a girl that you see very often ,but never talk to? Well then this is the story for you. I've seen this girl plenty of times at parties where you hear the big bangs of the speakers as they play Latino music, and hear the clinging of two beer bottles as two guys say "salud". "Quinceañeras" as they call it, or as I like to call it "The beginning to the best part of my life".
The night of June 27, 2014. It was the day of my cousins Quinceañera. The day we have all been waiting for and practiced for so much. We sat in the limo as the heat cooked us and made us drip sweat. My uncle was about to call us out of the limo to start the entrance dance. We stood in the entrance with our hearts beating as we thought in our heads "what if we mess up?". They finally gave us the signal and we walked into a wonderland of lights, ribbons, tables, chairs, and most importantly... Humans. Thousands of eyes stared at us as we walked to the middle of the dance floor.
No screw ups yet and so far we've finished the entrance dance, now onto the "brindis" which is just a toast but they have a special dance for it. Little did the guests know that the song was too short and we happened to end the dance in a half moon ,but we were supposed to lift my cousin up. We recovered from the huge screw up with the surprise dance which was bachata. After that we did a dance to invite people to dance with us and get everything started.
Six songs and a hundred corona bottles in the trash can later the DJ finally played a bachata song, and all the kids my age ran for a dance partner. I danced with my friend Angie ,but little did I know I would be lip syncing the song to the love of my life.
