AUTHOR POV:
Meera was lost in thought about her date when the person sitting across from her greeted her with a charming smile and said,
"Hi Meera ji, I'm Aditya Mishra. I'm a software engineer here in Bangalore, but I'm originally from Delhi. And you?"
she came out of her thoughts and said with a small smile
"hello nice to meet you Mishra Ji i thought that my family already told you about me"
hearing this he said "Please don't call me Mishra Ji. It gives me an uncle-type vibe. So, you can call me Adi and yes, they told but I didn't get anything to start talking between us so I casually asked it"
Meera said, "Before you start thinking about us, I want to clarify things. Please don't get too serious about this date. I am not interested in dating or getting married. My parents forced me to be here."
Hearing Meera's words, his bright face momentarily lost its brightness. But with a small smile, he said, "I really appreciate your honesty and courage. It's okay, no problem. But can we at least be friends, right?"
Meera was shocked when she heard this and, with a little hesitation, she said,
"Yes, no problem. We can if you agree to reject me only. Otherwise, I can't."
He hesitated a bit after hearing the word "rejection," but then consoled himself and agreed. They both exchanged their numbers.
Sensing his hesitation upon hearing her words, she said,
"Sorry, but if I reject you, my mother will get upset again because I have already rejected so many guys. It seems like you and my family are a little close, so it won't go well. But if you reject me, my family will believe it easily, and I won't have to face their disappointment. That's why I'm requesting you to please tell them that you didn't like me."
After hearing her, as usual, he couldn't say no to her request, so he agreed with a small, sad smile. She also sensed that he was interested in her, but her insecurities were not allowing her to accept his feelings and this relationship. So, she ignored his sadness a little bit.
After some minutes, they both became comfortable with each other and talked about random things, their likes, and dislikes. They also exchanged their numbers.
On the other hand, seeing that they were exchanging their numbers Meera's mamma Vidya and maasi Maansi thought that meera and Aditya both are interested in each other so they got very excited for them and their future.
After the chaotic situation, they quietly arrived home. Meera was about to enter her room when Vidya couldn't contain her curiosity and asked Meera in excitement,
"Meeru, are you ready to get engaged with Aditya? I mean.... Do you like him?"
