MARK
The most embarrassing thing ever was showing up to the hockey team's table during lunch.
I didn't want to go there for multiple reasons, the main being the fact that they were so typical sport's men. They were loud, obnoxious, bully, and everything I hated in a person. It was obvious that I didn't belong there.
Oh and that didn't help it either that earlier that day I was an asshole to two of them.
I wanted to go home and cry but then I saw a note with a messy handwriting on my locker saying "if you change ur mind u can still eat w us!!! :D :D" and with very tiny letters under it "(plus ill give u twenty for it. please.)"
Was I desperate enough for twenty bucks to go sit with them? Yes. Will I regret it? Probably.
. . .
As I walked to their table I noticed that one of the boys from earlier looked around. His friends tried to get his attention but they couldn't. He noticed me going to them after sometime and started continuously hitting his friend's arm. When I approached them I said hi with an awkward smile.
Suddenly everyone got quiet and looked at me. Like they were seeing a ghost. Some of their mouth was wide open.
RORY
I was ready to scream Adam's head off because he was more annoying than the usual when I saw him.
Him. The literal love of my life.
"Hi!" he said timidly and I completely lost it.
"Yeah, hi!" Adam was the only one reacting, us others where too shocked. "Come sit down!" He reached the chair on the other side of me and pulled that out.
Mark shrugged as he sat down.
"Well okay," Mike shrugged. "I have so many questions to you Mark. Is its Mark? I feel like it's Mark but I'm not sure."
"Yes it's Mark," he replied glancing warily at Adam. Why was he looking at him? They are not that close, are they? I guess my frown was shown because Adam quickly continued the conversation.
"He's not here for a Q&A dude."
"I know, I know. I just. . . What are doing in your day to day life?"
"What?" I said with Mark at the same time. I tried not to smile so wild at this but holy shit we thought at the same thing.
I saw Adam facepalm.
"What? I'm not trying to be rude! I'm just curious, I mean-" Mark cut Mike off.
"I'm not that interesting. Just trying to get away from my family."
"Ooh exciting!" another guy, Oliver said. "Look if you need a place to stay while you're 'getting away' just text me. I have an unused room."
It was clearly a joke on Oliver part but I noticed how Mark's eyes lit up. Would he sleep under the same roof as Oliver?
The lunch was good but unfortunately I couldn't speak with Mark. Not because others were getting all of his attention but because I didn't risk being a stuttering idiot in front of the boys.
. . .
MARK
That's it. The perfect plan. During lunch I looked around and tried to select the perfect boy who could adopt me for four days or so.
Most of them seemed harmless but still for some reason I chose Adam. He was the most normal out of everyone and I felt like I knew him the best
"Hey, Adam!" I went to him the next day when he was alone. He looked around like he was searching for someone then greeted me with a smile. "I know we only talked like twice. And I was an asshole once, but-"
"Oh no, you weren't" He cut me off. "You're cool dude, we're not mad or anything."
"Awesome! I hoped you would think that because I need to ask for a huge favor," I said nervously, fidgeting with my fingers.
"Yeah sure, is everything alright?" Adam asked with a worried expression on his face.
"Yes it's just. . . how we joked about yesterday that I might need a place to stay," I started. He nodded. "I actually need a place to stay for a few days. I spare you the details, I just really really really need a place."
"Oh cool. . . You want to stay at mine?" I gave him a quiet yes. "Err. Yes. Or no. I would help you if I could but I have. . . five older brothers. It's honestly like living in a zoo," he laughed awkwardly. "But er, you remember Rory?"
"The guy you were with?"
"Yes!" he screamed at me making me flinch. "Sorry. I bet he would like to- or he wouldn't say no to you. He's a good kid I promise. He's like our golden child. Always positive and shit."
"Okay," I hesitated. I mean he did looked normal but still.
"Trust me on this. He's the best. Much better than me. I'm dirty, leave my clothes everywhere, never clean up. Like, never. I'm literally the worst roommate one could ask for. But Rory? He's helpful, clean. His mom also an angel. Trust me he's your man. Not me."
"Alright alright," I laughed. "I got it, I will ask him. Are you sure he won't mind? Because I really need this."
"I'm sure dude. Let me know how it went!" Adam said and then went to his class.
It was time to ask Rory. I hoped Adam was right.
