We waved good bye to my mother and Sarah as Caleb opened his car door for me. I waved back for one last time as I took a seat inside. He closed the door for me and hurriedly ran to his side of the car. It felt so weird being with him, don't get me wrong it felt good, just good weird. If that made sense.

As he got in and put the key into the ignition he grabbed my hand and squeezed his. He looked into my eyes and smiled. I melted at the intensity of his gaze.

"Did I tell you that you look beautiful tonight?" He asked me.

He lifted my hand to his lips and kissed them once more. My heart raced and butterflies stirred in my tummy.

"Only every second since we stepped out of the door." I informed him. He smiled again and kissed my knuckles one at a time.

"I missed you." He told me. Again, that wasn't the exact word I wanted to hear, but it would suffice for now. We were taking things slow.

"And I you." I replied and smiled at him. Squeezing his hand.

He gave me yet another smile and pulled his hands from mine. He turned the key and the car started with a soft purr. I turned on the radio and it played classical music. I looked at it oddly. Caleb never liked this type of music before. He said it made him sleepy. Yet, I haven't really talked to him for about a year. It is possible that his interests may have changed.

"Sorry about that, my mom borrowed my car." He told me.

I looked at him blankly. His mom didn't drive, she had a fear of it since her car accident many years back. Noticing my confused look on my face, he gave me a reassuring smile.

"She had a friend drive her. They did errands." He explained.

I vaguely remembered that his mother also detested any type of music, but then again it was possible her interests could've changed as well. I let the matter rest and instead wanted to enjoy my night with Caleb. It was our first night out together for a long time.

We finally pulled out of my driveway and went on our way to Masa's. It was the first restaurant that he took me to when we first began dating in high school. It felt like déjà vu that we were coming here for our first date in a long time, when we already had our first date here. I know I explained it oddly, but I think you got the point.

When we were finally on the highway, Caleb grabbed my left hand. He held it with his right and we stayed like that until we arrived at the restaurant.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When we arrived at Masa's the valet opened my door and helped me out. I thanked him and waited for Caleb. Caleb came strolling around the car and tossed the key lazily at the valet.

"Don't get a scratch on my car or I'll sue you for more than what your worth." Caleb said rudely.

I looked at him with wide eyes. Never in all the years that I've been with him, ever saw him act in that type of manner. I hugged myself, not feeling at all too well. Maybe I wasn't ready to go out again.

Caleb noticing my reaction came towards me and grabbed both my hands. He squeezed them tight and looked into my eyes. I looked away, not exactly knowing why I did so.

"Hey, look at me." He said softly.

He released my left and gently held my face, making me turn towards him. He gently touched my face and moved my hair behind my ear.

"What's wrong?" He asked me.

"Caleb, you were totally rude to that guy." I told him. Pulling my hands out of his grasps. I heard him huff.

"Come on Evy. I just didn't want him to ruin my car. I just it painted and had new rims placed on it."

"Still that's no excuse." I said, now crossing my arms and beginning to walk away from.

He quickly grabbed my waist with his arm and pulled me tightly to him.

"Let's just go eat dinner." He said, holding me a little too tightly.

"Ow." I said aloud. "Your hurting me."

His grip loosened, but he still held me to him. I looked up at his eyes. I saw a flash of anger, but It quickly disappeared. As if he never felt angry one bit. His eyes turned soft and a smile spread over his face.

"Come on Evy. I have a surprise for you." He told me and pulled me along with him into the restaurant.

As the waiter showed us to our table, Caleb held his hand with mine. We trailed after the waiter slowly. When we came to a door, Caleb told me to close my eyes.

"Why do I have to close my eyes?" I asked him.

"Please Evy, just close your eyes. it's a surprise." He told me.

I did as he asked and closed my eyes. He probably thought I would peek, so he also placed his hand over my eyes. I heard the door open and he slowly led me into the room. Finally after only a few minutes we stopped.

"On a count of three you can open you eyes." He told me, happily.

I nodded my head, excited.

"one..." He said. My heart starting to race rapidly.

"...two..."My hands were getting sweaty.

"...three!" I opened my eyes.

What was in front of me was a table for two placed inside the room. Surrounding the entire room were candles that lay almost in every corner. It illuminated the room. I looked at the ground and saw rose peddles cover the floor. I then looked back at the table and saw a big bottle of wine and two glasses. In the middle of the table were a dozen roses.

I swear my heart must've been beating as fast as a humming birds wings. I covered my mouth in awe and was touched. He planned this entire thing for me. I completely forgot about our previous argument that we recently just had, and I think fell even more in love with him, if that was even possible.

I looked at Caleb speechless. He smiled at me and wiped away a tear that I didn't notice escaped from my eyes. He then kissed me on the forehead.

"Caleb." I started, not knowing what else to say. I was so overwhelmed.

"It's beautiful." I told him. He shook his head.

"No." He said softly, his eyes focusing on me. "You are."

He grabbed me and held me close. I snuggled into him and held him to me. I breathed in his familiar scent and thanked god for giving me a man like Caleb.

"I love you." I whispered into his chest.

"me too." He replied. Yet, he seemed to avoid telling me that he also loved me. Maybe I was just over reacting.

He then pulled away and kissed me on my lips. It wasn't the kiss I was used to. It was short and abrupt and didn't seem to be as intense as his old kisses used to be. I mentally kicked myself and told myself that I just wasn't used to kissing him and that'll it'll gradually grow to be the same as time goes on. What I didn't know now was that it never would.
