We were all gathered in the school cafeteria during lunch, talking about the event. Mikha, as usual, was full of energy and ideas. "So, what are we going to do for the event? we can't come empty handed, we need someone to perform for the student council" she asked, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.

"I don't know," Aiah replied thoughtfully. "We could do a group dance or something."

"Or we could just enjoy watching everyone else," Sheena added with a laugh.

Gwen, who had been quietly listening, suddenly spoke up. "Actually, I heard they're looking for people to sing. Maybe one or two of us could perform."

Before I could react, all eyes turned to Colet and me. Singing was something we both loved, especially when we were alone in our rooms or together in Colet's cozy space. But the idea of performing in front of the whole school was terrifying.

"Oh no, no, no," I started, shaking my head. "I don't think I can do that."

"Come on, Maloi!" Mikha exclaimed, her voice encouraging. "You and Colet have amazing voices. You'd be perfect!"

"Yeah," Aiah chimed in. "You two sing together all the time. It'll be just like that, but on stage."

Colet looked at me, her eyes filled with a mixture of excitement and fear. I knew she wanted to, but she was waiting for my cue. Taking a deep breath, I nodded. "Okay, we'll do it."

Our friends erupted into cheers and high-fives, the decision made. We spent the next few days practicing in every spare moment we could find. We chose "Dress" by Taylor Swift, our favorite song. It had always felt like our anthem, and we knew every word by heart.

The night of the event arrived faster than I expected. My heart pounded as we waited backstage, the sounds of the audience filtering through the curtains. Colet squeezed my hand, her grip reassuring. "We got this," she said, her voice steady despite the nervousness I could see in her eyes.

"Of course we got this, i wore this dress just to appreciate the fact that the song we're gonna be singing is titled dress" I replied jokingly to brighten up the mood and let our worries go away.

When our names were called, we walked onto the stage to the sound of applause. The bright lights blinded me for a moment, but then I found Colet's eyes, and the fear melted away. We started singing, our voices blending together in perfect harmony. The familiar lyrics flowed effortlessly, and soon, it felt like it was just the two of us, singing in Colet's room, safe and comfortable. I felt like there were butterflies in my stomach when i sing and look at Colet at the same time.

The crowd's reaction was more than we could have hoped for. They cheered, clapped, and some even sang along. As the song ended, the applause was thunderous. I felt a rush of exhilaration, my heart soaring. We had done it.

After the show, our friends surrounded us, their faces beaming with pride and excitement. "You were amazing!" Sheena exclaimed, hugging us both tightly.

"See? I told you!" Mikha added, her grin wide and triumphant.

Gwen nodded, her eyes shining. "You two were incredible. I'm so glad you did it."

As we walked home that night, the stars twinkling above us, I felt a deep sense of gratitude. For Colet, for our friends, and for the unexpected bravery that had led us to share our voices with the world. It was a night I knew I'd remember forever, a night when I realized that sometimes, taking a leap of faith could lead to the most unforgettable experiences.
