a few days had passed since Colet and I had confessed our feelings for each other. It was Wednesday, a day when our university had only morning classes, making it the perfect time to hang out in the afternoon. As I finished my last class, I decided to ask Colet if she wanted to spend the afternoon together.

I headed towards her classroom, my heart light with anticipation. But as I turned the corner, I saw Jhoanna talking to her. A wave of insecurity washed over me, and I immediately thought they might have plans to hang out. Without thinking, I turned around and started walking back to my room, feeling a pang of disappointment.

"Maloi!" Colet's voice called out, but I kept walking, hoping she wouldn’t follow.

She did, of course. Colet never gave up easily. "Maloi, wait up!" she shouted, catching up to me just as I reached my classroom.

I tried to ignore her, but she stepped in front of me, her face etched with concern. "What’s going on? Why did you walk away?"

I sighed, my shoulders sagging. "It’s nothing, Colet. I just thought you might have plans with Jhoanna."

She frowned. "I don’t have plans with Jho. I was just talking to her. Why didn't you come over?"

My frustration boiled over. "Because I feel like I’m always intruding on you two. I wanted to spend time with you today, but it seems like you’re always with her." My voice cracked, tears welling up in my eyes. "It’s hard, Colet. I know you said I could never be replaced, but it doesn’t feel that way."

Colet’s expression softened, and she stepped closer, wrapping her arms around me. "Loi, you’re my best friend and so much more. I’m sorry if I made you feel that way. Jho’s just a friend. You are so important to me."

Just then, I saw Jhoanna standing outside my classroom, looking hesitant. She approached us slowly, overhearing our conversation. "Hey, can I talk to you both for a minute?"

I wiped my eyes and nodded. Colet kept her arm around me, a comforting presence.

Jhoanna took a deep breath. "Maloi, I’m really sorry if I’ve made you feel left out. That was never my intention. I just wanted to explain that Colet is just a friend to me. Actually, I’ve been courting Stacey."

My eyes widened in surprise. "Stacey? But you said she was just a friend."

Jhoanna smiled sheepishly. "I said that because Stacey hadn’t answered me yet. But she said yes earlier today."

Relief flooded through me, and I managed a small smile. "I’m glad you cleared that up. Thank you, Can i call you Jho?"

"Of course you can." Jhoanna replied with a smile.

Colet squeezed my shoulder. "See? Nothing to worry about."

Just then, our friends Mikha, Aiah, Gwen, and Sheena arrived, noticing my teary eyes. Mikha frowned, her voice filled with concern. "Maloi, are you okay?"

I nodded, feeling lighter. "Yeah, I’m okay. We were just talking about some things."

We all decided to hang out together, including Jhoanna and Stacey. The afternoon turned into an impromptu celebration of friendship and new beginnings. We laughed, played games, and enjoyed each other's company at the mall.

As the sun started to set, Mikha suddenly turned to Aiah. "Hey, Aiah, can you come with me for a second?"

Our friends erupted into cheers, and I couldn’t help but laugh at how grand the gesture was. Mikha had always been a bit extravagant, but this took it to a new level. I felt a warmth spread through me, happy for my friends and their newfound joy.

We all celebrated together, the day turning into a blur of laughter and excitement. As night fell, Colet and I walked home together. She held my hand, and the simple gesture filled me with contentment.

"Today was a good day," I said, glancing at Colet.

"It was," she agreed, her smile radiant. "And there will be many more good days to come, Maloi. Together."

I squeezed her hand, feeling grateful for the love and friendship that surrounded us. No matter what challenges lay ahead, I knew we would face them together, our bond stronger than ever. And for Gwen and Sheena? Well, their stories were yet to unfold, but I had a feeling they too would find their moments of happiness and surprise.
