Lucy's POV

College life was supposed to be fun and adventurous, but all I could think about was making friends and fitting in. I had a bubbly personality, sure, but people often mistook my cheerfulness for being shallow.

They didn't know the half of it.

They didn't know the pain I hid behind my smile.

"Hey, Lucy! Are you coming to the party tonight?" one of my classmates called out as I walked through the hallway.

"Of course! Wouldn't miss it for the world!" I replied with a bright smile. The truth was, I didn't care much for parties. I went because it was easier to be surrounded by noise and laughter than to be alone with my thoughts.

As I walked back to my dorm, my mind wandered back to Kristen. He was so different from anyone I'd met. His face was pale and drawn, but his features were so delicate they looked almost fragile. His eyelashes were long and lush, framing his eyes like a work of art.

His nose was small and slightly upturned, giving him a perpetually endearing look. His lips were full and soft, curled into a gentle curve that made me want to kiss them. But despite his pale face and downturned eyes, there was something about him that radiated a quiet strength and vulnerability, making my heart ache with tenderness.

His shoulders appeared slightly hunched as if he carried an invisible weight. His jet-black hair fell artfully over his forehead, almost covering his strikingly intense, dark eyes.

Despite the somber expression he always wore, his chiseled jawline and high cheekbones made him undeniably attractive.

His eyes, deep and mysterious, seemed to hold a world of unspoken thoughts. They were like two black holes, pulling me in with their depth. There was something about Kristen that made it hard to look away, a magnetic pull that I couldn't quite understand.

I found myself hoping he'd notice me, even though he always seemed lost in his own world. There was a sadness in his gaze that intrigued me, making me wonder what lay behind those dark eyes.

His allure was undeniable, and despite his apparent disinterest, I couldn't help but feel drawn to him.

There was something about him that piqued my curiosity, something hidden beneath his cold exterior. I wanted to get to know him, to understand what made him tick.

Back in my room, I found my roommate, Emily, sprawled on her bed, scrolling through her phone. She glanced up as I entered.

"Hey, Lucy. How was your day?"

"Good, good. Same old stuff. Hey, do you know Kristen, Alex's roommate?"

"Yeah, I've seen him around. Why?"

"He's... interesting. I don't know. I feel like there's a lot more to him than he lets on."

Emily shrugged. "Maybe. Or maybe he's just one of those people who likes to keep to themselves."

"Maybe," I said, but I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to Kristen's story.

Later that night, as I got ready for the party, I couldn't stop thinking about him. I wondered what he was doing, if he was okay.

A nagging voice at the back of my mind told me to reach out to him, to try again.

But I shook it off.

Maybe Emily was right.

Maybe Kristen just needed his space.

I headed to the party, determined to have a good time. But even amidst the laughter and loud music, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Suddenly, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I pulled it out and saw a message from an unknown number.

"Lucy, if you want to help a friend, meet me outside. Now."

My heart pounded in my chest. Who could this be? And which friend were they talking about.I glanced around the crowded room, my mind racing. I had to find out what was going on.

Slipping out of the party, I made my way outside. The cool night air hit my face, and I scanned the area for any sign of the mysterious messenger. Then, I saw a figure standing under a streetlight, partially obscured by shadows.

"Lucy?" the figure called out softly.

I hesitated for a moment before stepping closer. "Yes, that's me. Who are you?"

The figure moved forward, and I could finally see their face. It was a woman, her eyes filled with urgency.

"My name is Amelia. I can't explain everything right now, but Kristen is in danger. He needs your help."

My mind was reeling. So Kristen was in danger? Was that why he was always so withdrawn from everyone?

"What do you mean? What kind of danger?"

"There's no time. Just trust me. Kristen's life depends on it."

Before I could ask any more questions, Amelia handed me a small, worn notebook. "Give this to Kristen. And tell him to trust no one."

With that, she turned and disappeared into the night, leaving me standing there, clutching the notebook. My mind was racing. What had I just gotten myself into? And more importantly, what had Kristen gotten himself into?

As I walked back to my dorm, my thoughts were consumed by the mysterious encounter. I knew one thing for sure: I had to find Kristen and get some answers.
