"What is this?" Nico asked.

"An intervention." Reyna said firmly, stepping inside their shared office, Hazel close behind. "We left you alone until you'd finished your album, but we need to talk about this now."

Nico groaned, pushing his chair away from his desk, it wasn't like he'd been doing anything productive anyway. "I don't need an intervention."

"Nico, you re-recorded the vocals for ' Mess it Up' and ' I know it won't work '. As your manager, I support your decision, the more emotional vocals were a good choice. As your friend, I'm concerned as to why you chose the two songs you wrote about your fears of screwing your relationship up with Will."

Nico sighed, "I think you know why."

"Did you two breakup?" Hazel asked.

Nico really didn't want to think about any of this, all he wanted was to fall asleep - but his album was releasing in a matter of hours and the adrenaline would hold sleep hostage from him until hours after that. He'd re-recorded the vocals a few days prior, in the midst of his post-Will breakdown. Better to use his emotions productively than let them fester until after his deadline.

"Nico?" Reyna's tone was stern and he knew there was no getting out of this conversation.

"He said he wanted a 'break' . That he 'needed time' ." Nico refused to cry over this again, glaring at the office wall.

"Oh Nico!" Hazel threw herself at him in a messy hug that made him hastily stand lest he get crushed into his armrest.

"Did you two have an argument?" Trust Reyna to be the logical one in the conversation.

"Uh, yeah. I told him I was at work last Thursday since I was having a listening party with Jase and Hazel. I ended up drinking a little too much," Nico exhaled shakily before continuing, "He thought I was seeing someone else...I don't know its still hazy, but he accused me of lying and then said I was working too much. Then...yeah."

"And have you spoken since?"

"I texted to say I would respect that he asked for space, and would wait for him to contact me."

"And he hasn't?"

"No," Nico scowled, "he hasn't"

Reyna frowned. Nico couldn't read Hazel's expression, her chin rested on his shoulder as she clung to him. He pushed her back ever so gently, reaching his limit for physical contact, and she got the message and detached herself.

"Maybe he just needs some time?" Hazel offered, ever the optimist.

"So he's allowed time but I'm not? I told him to wait one week and I'd be working less!" Nico shot back.

"He missed you."

"Yeah well I missed him too, you don't see me breaking up with him over it."

Reyna said, "You have been working a lot Nico, and your album is done now. Maybe you could take a few days off?"
