"I fixed his song." Nico said as Reyna walked into their shared studio-office. They'd moved her desk into his office since she spent ninety percent of her time there anyway.
"I'm going to need a little more context." She chuckled, sitting down in her chair and facing him.
"His song was shit, we may have gotten angry at each other and I came back here to de-stress. Except I didn't de-stress, I recomposed his song and now it is decidedly not shit."
"And now you don't know what to do?"
"Well no, I know I can't give it to him. Because I should be credited but I can't be, not without telling him I'm ANGEL - which I have no intention of doing. So it's just going to sit in my files making me feel guilty."
"Tough."
"Thanks for the sympathy." Nico said dryly.
"No problem," Reyna smirked. "I think you're right though, just leave it be. He'll write other songs by himself."
"Yeah." Nico sighed, closing the file down and burying it in his folders so he would hopefully forget it existed. "I recorded a new song, just a demo but I wanted your thoughts."
Reyna outright smiled at that. "You know you've just made my otherwise shitty day."
Nico laughed, pulling up the demo. Reyna and him had only met when he'd been assigned her as his manager after signing with DOA as ANGEL - though she was more of a PA. But the two of them had hit it off instantly, and she'd been nothing but enthusiastic about his music.
With a click 'Doomsday' played over the sound system.
Pull the plug in September -
"Is that acoustic?"
Nico smirked, "What can I say, Solace inspired me."
"You're petty." Reyna laughed but then quietened to hear the rest of the song.
When the song came to an end, Reyna applauded lightly. "I like it, Nico. I really like it."
"Yeah?"
Reyna rolled her eyes, "I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it. We'll book you in for a recording session for next week. Is it a single?"
Reyna had a talent for reading his mind, a skill that never failed to surprise and unnerve him.
"Yeah, I haven't made much of a start on my next album, that's next week's problem, but I want to get a song out there."
"Surprise drop then?"
"My favourite kind." Nico grinned, knowing his fans absolutely hated his tendency to drop singles at random. At least he offered pre-sales for his albums.
Reyna explained she would contact Rachel that day about cover artwork, and start on the copyright paperwork and such. Nico just nodded along, he knew Reyna knew what she was doing, he wouldn't get in her way.
"I'll forward the demo file to you for Rachel." He said when she'd finished, doing so immediately before he forgot.
"You've got a song for The Muses due in a week, how's that going?" Reyna checked his calendar. He just needed to record the sample, something he'd made time for that afternoon.
