Diane Jenkins sauntered back into Genoa City in the middle of night. She had one goal and one goal only; to reunite with Kyle, her beloved son. The only regret she had about faking her death was leaving him behind. Kyle was flying in from Milan with Harrison, her grandson. She still couldn't wrap her head around the fact that she was a grandmother. She anxiously watched the clock tick closer and closer to Kyle's arrival.
Kyle Finds out the Truth
Kyle Abbott stepped back into his father's house and instantly felt at home. No matter how much he loved living in Milan, Genoa City was always going to be home. When Jack called him and practically begged him to come home, he became suspicious. Even after being reassured that everyone was fine, they just really needed him to be at home; Kyle was still extremely nervous. Harrison ran throughout the house looking for Jack while Kyle waited in the living room.
Jack let an excited Harrison drag him into the living room. "Welcome home you two!" Jack exclaimed giving his son a huge hug. Now Kyle was really on edge. "I want to hear all about Milan. After you guys get settled, I need to talk to you Kyle for a minute."
Kyle, sensing his father's apprehension, sent Harrison into the kitchen. "What's going on Dad? You seem nervous." Kyle asked.
"Don't you want to rest after your flight?" Jack anxiously questioned.
Kyle shook his head, "I can tell something is bothering you and based on the way you practically demanded I return home it has to be big. I want to know so just tell me."
"Kyle, I don't know how to tell you this, so I am just going to say it. Your mother is alive, she's alive, and I have seen her in person." Jack watched his son process this news as he began pacing in the living room. He saw about five different emotions cross over Kyle's face. Kyle started to shake his head in disbelief and Jack was not sure if he should go comfort his son or continue to let him pace.
Kyle Abbott was in shock; he didn't know how to feel. He knew that his father would never lie about this; this was too important. How many times had he wished as a child for his mother to be alive? Now she was and honestly, he was just so confused. Had she been kidnapped and forced to fake her death? Why would she fake her death? He had so many questions swimming around his head, he didn't know where to begin.
"Where is she? Where has she been?" the younger Abbott quietly asked his father. He was looking at the ground; he couldn't bear to see the sympathy in Jack's eyes right now.
"She's been living in Los Angeles. Currently she's here in Genoa City." Kyle's head whipped up at that; she was here! More importantly she had been in Los Angeles for years and never bothered to tell him that she was alive. He heard Jack start talking again, "Your mother would like to see you again, if that's what you want. If you don't, please don't feel bad about it. You can get right back on the plane, and I will tell Diane to leave."
Kyle wasn't sure what he wanted. He was terrified to see his mother again, but at the same time there was so much he wanted to say.
"You don't have to decide anything this moment." Jack broke the ice. "Take all the time you need. Your thoughts and feelings are more important than what Diane wants."
Harrison had wandered out of the kitchen and walked to Kyle sitting on the couch. The little boy was confused when Kyle snatched him up into a deep hug.
Jack watched his son cling to his own son like a life raft. He was cursing Diane in his head repeatedly for putting their son in this position. Once again Kyle had to pay for her selfishness and honestly, he didn't think that Diane even noticed or cared. He sat next to Kyle on the couch and patted his arm as a gesture of comfort. Kyle whispered to him over Harrison's head that he would see his mother when he was ready to and that he would let him know when that was. Jack nodded understanding that Kyle needed answers, but Jack couldn't help but wish that he would have decided to go back to Milan.
