Tara Locke was sitting in her hotel room enjoying a nice glass of Merlot. Soon she would have her son back and everything would perfect. Smirking she took a long sip. Suddenly there was a loud knock at her door almost like a bang.

"Must be Summer." Tara snarked aloud. She knew Kyle would run and tell Summer. She opened the door to reveal an extremely angry looking Summer. "Hello Summer."

Summer stormed into the room, hitting Tara in the shoulder in the process. "Come on in." She slammed the door behind her rival. "Please make yourself at home."

Summer turned to face Tara, glaring as hard as she could. "In what universe do you think you deserve full custody of Harrison? After all you did to him and Kyle, keeping them apart, you selfish cow."

"Selfish cow?" Tara scoffed. "Really Summer? How juvenile."

"Fine, you're a miserable bitch. There. Is that better?" Summer sneered. She looked at the documents Tara had on the table. Right on top was an affidavit of sworn testimony. "What's this?" Summer asked walking over to the table.

"Don't touch that." Tara tried to block her rival, but Summer was quicker. The other woman shoved Tara back and picked up a pile of papers. Her eyes bugged as she read them. There was testimony from people who Summer had never heard of trashing her character and Kyle's. The money shot was the will, Ashland's will. Tara had lied when she said Ashland never changed it.

"You lying bitch." Summer swore. "You forged Ashland's will and all of these character witness letters. You're not going to get away with this." Summer tucked the papers into her bag and started towards the door.

"You're not leaving this room." Tara blocked her exit. Summer slapped the older woman. Tara hit back without even flinching. "I'm getting my son back and you can't stop me."

"Oh yeah, watch me." Summer spat. She shoved Tara to the ground and ran out of the room. Tara quickly picked herself up and ran after her. She caught the current Mrs. Abbott right before the stairs. The older woman tried to reach into Summer's bag to grab the papers. Summer held tight onto her purse.

The women moved closer and closer to the top of the staircase. Tara had grabbed Summer by the arms trying to get her to release her hold on the bag.

"Let go of me Locke." Summer screamed.

"With pleasure" Tara quipped with a smirk and released Summer. The younger woman lost her balance and went tumbling down the stairs. Summer landed on the ground in a heap. Tara stared coldly at her rival before heading back to her room. A crowd had started to form and she knew getting those papers back wouldn't be happening tonight.

Thankfully, for Summer someone had immediately called 911. It took a few minutes for the paramedics to arrive and take the pregnant woman to the hospital. Unfortunately for Summer, life as she knew it was over.

The Hospital

Kyle was sitting by his unconscious wife's hospital bed holding her hand. His heart dropped into his stomach when he got that phone call telling him that Summer was in the hospital after falling down the stairs. A loud groan caught his attention and he turned to Summer; she was waking up.

"Hey. Hey, how are you?" Kyle whispered, stroking Summer's hand.

"Where am I?" Summer moaned. The bright hospital lights were hurting her eyes; she couldn't focus.

"You're in the hospital baby. You took a nasty fall."

"Fall?" Summer stammered. The past few hours were a blur. The pounding headache wasn't helping her remember.

"Yeah, you were at the Athletic Club and you just fell the stairs. Got a massive concussion and a couple of broken ribs. That was some fall you took." Kyle gently explained. He was avoiding the elephant in the room, both elephants actually. He wanted to scream at her for going to confront Tara, for always charging ahead without thinking; but this wasn't the time or the place.

"Sounds like it." Summer moaned in pain. She put her hand on her midsection with sudden thoughts of her baby. "Kyle, did they tell you anything about the baby?" She asked in a panic-stricken voice.

'Oh, now you're concerned about the baby?' Kyle bitterly thought before answering her. "No, not a word." The longer the doctors kept him waiting, the more nervous he became.

"Oh, God." Summer groaned leaning back onto the pillow. Tears were threatening to come out of her eyes. That nervous feeling that had been plaguing Kyle for the past couple of hours was now starting to creep up in her. "Have you called my parents? Jack?"

Kyle noticed how she neglected to mention his mother. "Yeah, I called my parents and yours. Nick and Phyllis are in the waiting room; my parents will come by later." It had mutually agreed between the three men that Diane and Phyllis shouldn't be in the same waiting room for any period of time.

"Knock. Knock." The married couple turned their attention to see Dr. Chandler standing in the doorway. The seasoned doctor was wearing a neutral expression, so neither Summer or Kyle could read her.

"Do you have any updates on our baby?" Summer asked. Kyle grabbed her hand for support.

Dr. Chandler took a deep breath, not a good sign to either parent. "I'm so sorry, but your baby didn't survive the fall." Both parents burst into tears. The doctor stood there for a moment to let them get their initial emotions out. "I'm so sorry for your loss. Both of you. Summer, I'll need to see you before you get released to check you over." She left to give the young couple some privacy. Telling expectant parents news like this was her least favorite part of her job.

"Kyle, I'm so sorry. I'm sorry." Summer cried. She had never felt pain like this before. She knew Kyle had to feel it too.

"Come here." Kyle pushed himself onto the bed to give Summer a hug. They lost track of time sitting there mourning their child. Eventually, they would have to call their parents, but for now they just wanted to be alone.
