Y/N

"DO YOU know Kurokawa Izana, Y/N?"

Mikey's unexpected question left me frozen in place. My face drained of color as images of the man in question flooded my mind, making me overwhelmed with fear and anxiety. Did he find out something? I did not know what should I tell him. It was complicated. I slowly pulled myself away from his embrace to look at him. I thought of giving him the safest answer by questioning him back and acting calmly.

"Why do you ask, Mikey? Did something happen?"

Mikey locked eyes with me and I could feel the intensity of his stare like he could see right through me. My mind was in turmoil and my heart was beating erratically. He was demanding answers that I couldn't bring myself to admit and made me feel even more nervous as it was.

"Indeed, there is. He is related to our recent conflict with Tenjiku," Mikey said, his voice low and serious. "So if you do, I need to know. I need to know who we are dealing with."

My throat suddenly felt dry as I struggled to come up with another response. His penetrating gaze was unnerving and made it harder for me to think clearly. Seeing me hesitating, Mikey breathed out a soft sigh and took my hand with his. The look in his pitch-black eyes softened and etched with concern.

"Listen, Y/N. I understand if you don't want to talk about it. I'm not pressuring you into anything," Mikey said gently, holding my hand tightly. "But please do know that I trust you and I want you to do the same to me. I only wish to protect you and keep you safe. You can tell me anything. Share your burdens with me just like how I did to you. I'm willing to hear you out. Isn't that what couples are supposed to do?"

My chest tightened with gnawing guilt. He wasn't wrong. I could feel his unwavering trust in me through his sincere words. He did not even attempt to put me in a tight position. I knew Mikey was only watching over my well-being and yet, I was a hypocrite to appreciate his efforts. I did not want him to be kept in the dark, but some things are supposed to be left unsaid and secrets to be buried deep.

In the end, I took a deep breath and decided to give him a piece of truth, enough to stop his doubts. "I... I do know, Kurokawa Izana," I began, trying to measure my words carefully as I stared deeply into his dark enigmatic eyes. "He's more than just a name to me. He and I... we shared a complicated past that I don't want to remember at all. All I could say is that he's not someone to be taken lightly."

His eyebrows furrowed. "What do you mean, Y/N? How are you connected to him?"

I shook my head, unable to bring myself to say more. That guy wasn't even worth mentioning. "I'm sorry, Mikey. That's all I can tell you."

Mikey's facial expression shifted slightly, his dark eyes searching mine as if weighing my words and the lingering fear behind them. However, he revealed neither frustration nor disappointment. There was only understanding and acceptance which I least expected from him and it was quite surprising.
