My hands wrapped around Lillian's neck and I twisted, there was no going back now.

She drifted into awaiting darkness.

Lillian would wake up with a strong need for blood and the restraints holding her currently wouldn't last.

I moved to the sink beside the bed and cleared my body of any trace of blood. Wetting a washcloth, I gently washed Lillian's skin of blood, my hand gently grazing over the fading bite marks. She was already healing.

"Everything will be perfect soon. You'll learn to control yourself, I'll present you to the council, we'll be fine." I whispered, picking Lillian up, her body limp in my arms.

The safest way to keep Lillian from leaving the basement was to use silver. Setting my limp mate in a chair much softer than the bed, I added cuffs to her ankles and wrists. The silver would burn if she moved too much. I then used a chain and wrapped it around her torso to keep her glued to the chair.

Unable to look at her in the state she was in, I kissed her forehead and left the basement.

I decided to text Ashton to see if he could help me control Lillian when she woke up. He replied that he would be over within a half an hour.

I noticed I had been pacing back and forth by the basement door, so I walked to the living room and forced myself to sit. Although I was trying to check my emails, all I could do was train my eyes on the clock.

It only took Ashton fifteen minutes to show up and he too sat, tense and ready for Lillian's awakening.

"Do you want to um, see her? I haven't checked on her since I chained her up." I looked at Ashton and stood up slowly.

Ashton nodded and we moved towards the basement door.

'Why does my throat burn so much?' was the first thing that come into my head as I regained consciousness. As I became more aware of my surroundings, I realized I couldn't move.

I did the first thing that seemed natural, I screamed. The basement door flew open and Luke came flying down the stairs, Ashton behind him.

"It's okay, it's okay, " Luke murmured, "we just don't need you running out killing others for blood. It's for your own good."

I stopped struggling. Ashton moved to a small fridge near the bed and poured some liquid into a cup. He handed the cup to Luke who was holding my hand.

"Here, drink this. It'll make you feel better." Luke handed me the drink. As I drank it, the burn disappeared.

"Congrats. You just drank human blood." Ashton giggled.

I shivered. Luke mentioned something about me having the most control that he's seen a newborn ever have and that it may have something to do with him being so close to me, since we're mates.

"Just as a precaution I've dulled your new strong senses. I'll give them to you fully when I think you're ready, but it'll be pretty overwhelming." Luke mentioned.

Luke turned to Ashton, "Do you think we could unchain her, maybe take her hunting close to home? Our bond seems to calm her and I don't have many blood bags left."

Ashton replied, "I don't feel comfortable letting her out of the house, you undo the chains and I'll bring a victim to the basement for her to feed on." With that, Ashton disappeared.

Luke turned back to me. He gently undid all of my restraints and pulled me into his arms.

"You're alright," Luke rubbed my back, "just think about me, not about all of your worries. I'll help you learn everything you need to know."

I sat in Luke's arms as we waited in silence.
