It took some time to clean up the mess of a basement Logan called home. I would hate to see him wake up to such a horrific sight. As I cleaned, Logan slept soundly on the couch.

Luke had pushed me away and not only left the room, but the entire house. I assumed he had gone hunting to regain strength. Part of me wished he would never come back while the other half was determined to gain his trust. It still hurt me physically while he was away.

I needed backup, someone that knew Luke. I immediately thought of Ashton, Luke seemed to be friendly with him up until the final breaking point.

I glanced over to where Luke had set his phone down before stabbing himself. Feeling guilty, I found and dialed Ashton's number.

Ashton picked up the second ring, "Luke?" He sounded surprised.

"No Ashton, it's Lillian. I think Luke almost disowned me today," I told him about the day's events," I really need some help."

Ashton sighed deeply, "That is quite the problem. If I choose to help you, you owe me big time. We will teach Luke how to love again although it will take time," he paused, "I still care about him."

Ashton muttered a few more words and hung up on me just as Logan began to stir.

His entire body was shaking.

Logan's eyes fluttered open as I gently comforted him, "Luke has left, I'll protect you Logan. I am so sorry, my hunger weakened me and I couldn't stop Luke from compelling you. This won't happen again."

He whispered, "My entire body hurts so much, Lillian make it stop. I understand," he winced, "you chose to save me. Please save me from the pain once more."

What did Luke do? Logan should've felt almost entirely better by now.

"Oh my god, what did Luke do to you? Logan, I even fed you my blood to help you feel better. Something is terribly wrong."

Logan was as pale as a ghost and his shirt was drenched in sweat. His brown hair lay matted. All he could do was make a quiet whimper of agreement.

"Ashton, Luke's former friend, should be here really soon. He's older and wiser so maybe he will know what to do. Stay strong Logan, I can't lose you."
-----
I stood over Logan as he breathed shallowly. I heard footprints coming down the stairs.

"Ashton, please hurry! My friend down here is really struggling." I screamed frantically.

Ashton picked up his pace and appeared, "What did Luke do? I thought the mortal was fine!" He ran his hand over Logan's cold forehead.

Logan only looked at him with pleading eyes. "The boy's system is shutting down due to Luke's compulsion. His will may have been strong, but Luke will go to the extreme in order to get what he wants. Luke has literally broken the boy. Even with my amount of power, there is little we can do."

I panicked, "What can we do to save him? I promised him that I would keep him alive! I cannot break my promise."

Ashton looked conflicted, "We turn the boy into an immortal so he can shield himself from Luke's compulsion. Luke's long lasting effects, as you have noticed, no longer hurt you for you are now turned. Humans are too weak to survive our world and I'm afraid Logan's too far gone to return home."

I immediately began to believe that this was Logan's best bet of survival but Ashton stopped me, "This isn't going to help gain Luke's trust. There was probably a reason why he wanted Logan dead, this was most likely out of some twisted feel of jealousy. Luke will probably kill one of us, I'm not sure if we'll be able to get to him in time. He will be angry to return home without a finding a dead Logan."

I looked at Ashton, "I am on a mission to save all of the people I love, as you would say, Luke's stubbornness is just a bump in the road. I will always love and need Luke. Logan is my support, my rock, I need him in my life too. This will work."

Ashton nodded, "I will offer my assistance in every way possible. I believe in you."
