A MESSAGE

The final bell echoed through the corridors of Greenwood High, signaling the end of another monotonous day. Students flooded the hallways, lockers clanged shut, and laughter mixed with chatter as everyone hurried to their after-school routines. Among the throng of teenagers, a group of thirty students walked with a purpose, their faces reflecting a mix of relief and exhaustion.

As they dispersed to their respective corners of the school grounds, each of them received a simultaneous ping on their phones. Thirty screens lit up with the same message:

"I know who you are and what you did."

It began with a single text message. Charlie , a popular senior known for his quick wit and charming demeanor. He had just finished basketball practice and was heading home, earbuds in, blasting his favorite playlist, when his phone vibrated in his pocket.

Expecting a message from his girlfriend, he glanced at the screen. Instead, what he saw made him stop dead in his tracks.

"I found you."

Charlie stared at the message, a chill running down his spine. He quickly scanned the street, half-expecting to see someone watching him, but the sidewalk was crowded with the usual mix of people heading home from work, tourists taking in the sights, and vendors hawking their wares. He shook his head, trying to dismiss the feeling of dread. It had to be a prank, probably one of his friends trying to scare him.

He pocketed his phone and continued walking, but the unease lingered.

The next morning, the halls of Greenwood High were buzzing with mysterious message. Word had spread quickly, as it always did in high school. As he walked to his locker, he could feel eyes on him, whispers following his every step.

"Hey, Charlie!" His best friend, Mike, called out, running out of breath to catch up with him. "did you got this message too? is it possible?" Charlie shrugged, trying to play it cool. "Probably just some sick joke. You know how people are."

Mike frowned. "Yeah, but that's a pretty messed up joke."

Before Charlie could respond, the bell rang, signaling the start of classes. As they headed to homeroom, the air was thick with tension. Everyone seemed on edge, as if sensing that something terrible was brewing.

Later that day after receiving the ominous message, Charlie was on edge. It was like a dark cloud had settled over him, following him everywhere. He couldn't shake the feeling that something terrible was about to happen. His best friend, Ryan Miller, noticed the change in Charlie's demeanor, but chalked it up to the usual pressures of senior year. Little did he know, today would test their friendship in unimaginable ways.

Ryan and Charlie had been inseparable even though they met a year ago, their bond forged through shared interests and a mutual understanding of each other's quirks. Charlie, with his outgoing and sometimes overbearing personality, often took the lead, while Ryan, more reserved and thoughtful, usually followed. Though they were best friends, there were times when Charlie's domineering side would surface, turning their interactions into something resembling bullying.

After a particularly grueling chemistry class, Charlie dragged Ryan into the restroom, the one place they could escape the throng of students. "Man, I can't believe how hard that test was," Charlie complained, leaning against the sink and rubbing his temples.

Ryan nodded, his eyes glued to his phone. "Yeah, it was tough. But hey, we've survived worse, right?"

Charlie's phone buzzed, and he stiffened. Ryan noticed the change immediately. "Charlie, what's wrong?"
