'I love you with my soul, (incase the mind forgets and the heart stops)'
~rumi.Dawud turned to look at his ringing phone, he dropped the papers in his hand and picked the phone. A smile appeared on his face when he saw it was Rahma calling, he picked immediately and placed the phone to his ear.
"Good evening". She greeted and he allowed her calm voice soothe his tired mind.
"How are you?".
"Good, how is work?".
"Are you back home?". He asked instead, he guessed why she called already, she always did at this time.
"Yes, I wanted to ask what you wanted for dinner". She asked, just as he thought she would.
"Seriously Rahma, anything".
"Definitely there has to be something you want to eat". She pressed.
"What do you want to eat". He asked instead.
"I'm not sure, I'm not craving anything".
"Same goes for me. I'll eat whatever you make Rahma". She was quite for sometime.
"Okay, sai Ka dawo".
"Thank you,". He hung up after and dropped the phone back.
A knock came on the door but before he could give permission to come in, the person pushed the door open and he knew immediately it was sudais knowing only he did that.
"You're not done?". Sudais asked dropping himself on the couch in the room.
Dawud stood up and walked round the table to stand before sudais.
"Is it just me or am I getting fat". He touched his stomach and arms. Sudais bursted out laughing.
"Seriously, I can feel it. Rahma feeds me a full course every evening!". Sudais' laughter hadn't subsided.
"Let me advice you my friend. Don't eat everything she gives you, and you should be worried. That's what she does, to stress herself she cooks anyhow and a lot and makes everyone eat it". He explained to Dawud who stood staring at him still worried about losing shape.
"So, something is bothering her right now?". He asked finally and sudais nodded as confirmation.
"But she seems fine though".
"Typical Rahma". He nodded understanding.
After sometime, sudais left to continue his work while Dawud did his. Few hours later, sudais was parking his car in Dawud and Rahma's home where dawud told him to come in but sudais declined saying he wasn't ready to fill his stomach before going to his wife, so reluctantly Dawud let him go.
He walked to the front door and opened it with his key then walked inside. The familiar scent their house now had, attacked senses in a good way. The house was quiet and surely when he walked to the dining room, it was laid out with different warmers and dishes. He peeped into the clean kitchen that didn't look like any of the food in the dining had been made in, he left seeing she wasn't there and made his way up the stairs.
He just finished making his way up when she opened her room door and stepped out.
"Good evening, welcome back". He looked her over, taking in the loose dress that she wore but still messed with his senses. He returned his gaze to her face that didn't do any better.
"Thank you".
"Adda rash called to say they were all coming over for dinner". She told him.
"Oh, okay, I'll go and freshen up". She nodded and made for the stairs.
