𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐒, 𝗷𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗵𝘂𝗴𝗵𝗲𝘀

33. later, i'm tanning

WITH THE TEMPERATURE being 90 degrees and the uv index being 9, tanning was a must.

i was on vacation with jack and his family in puerto rico for 2 weeks and we were currently staying at 'fairmont el san juan hotel.' it had a feel of luxury, accommodated with a breathtaking view of the ocean and palm trees.

the service was exemplary, the food was mouthwatering, the casinos were fun as hell, and the pool was my humble abode.

right now i was tanning on a long, beige beach chair down by the pool while jim, quinn, jack, and luke were playing in the water. more specifically, playing sharks and minnows.

i had to admit, seeing jack as the shark in the middle was hilarious. he couldn't catch anybody and even when he thought he did, he just pouted and bickered with quinn.

ellen was next to me, reading a fashion magazine that had 'VOGUE' plastered in white letters at the top. occasionally, she would sip out of her 'island punch smoothie' and say, "this is the life, yn. this is the life."

i laughed, nodding in agreement.

after a few minutes, she walked away to retrieve a croissant as i flipped over onto my stomach to tan my back. thats when i felt someone's hands lightly smack me on the butt and one word came to mind: jack.

i quickly whipped my head around. "jack, are you out of your mind?! this is a public place!!"

he threw his head back, not caring. "mm, yeah. no one's looking, babe."

i groaned. then he sat down next to me on the chair and squeezed my thigh. "you've been tanning for a while, you should come for a swim. the water is nice."

"no, i like myself dry."

"well, i like you wet."

there was a moment of silence as my mouth dropped open. jack was just smirking, his hand still on my thigh until i pushed it off.

"hey!" he yapped, putting it back on. "you know i'm right."

i playfully rolled my eyes at him and continued to bake in the sun.

he groaned. "ynnnn, c'mon, pleaseeee."

"you have your brothers and your dad."

"but i wanna swim with you," he wailed, tugging on my arm.

i kept my head buried in the crook of my arm as jack tried desperately to get me in the water with him.

"you know what, fine. you leave me no choice then." he threw me over his shoulder and walked over to the edge of the pool.

"jack!!! ugh, i'm gonna kill you!!!" i yelled, banging my hands on his back as he threw me in the water and jumped in after me.

"yay, yn's here!!" luke shouted as i came up from under the water, my hair a complete mess. "my favorite person."

"ayy, yn!" quinn shouted as well. "you up for some marco polo?"

"yeah, i'm down."

"what? no. who said we're playing marco polo?" jack questioned. "i bring my girlfriend in the pool for not even ONE minute and you guys steal her?? not happening."

"well, she wants to," quinn said. "isn't that right, yn?"

"yes, that is correct," i replied, swimming over to him and luke. "sorry, babe. that's what you get for throwing me in here."

jack rolled his eyes. "fine, but just one round."

"alright, but you're marco though," luke commented.

"fine."

jack closed his eyes and shouted, "marco!"

"polo," quinn replied, ushering me to get out of the pool. i was following his plan, so i slowly and quietly made my way out.

"marco," jack said, his arms waving up and down. i wanted to laugh so hard.

"polo," luke replied, splashing.

quinn swam the other way and quietly got out of the pool as well.

"marco," jack said.

"polo!" luke replied, quietly getting out of the pool.

"dude, i can't find anyone," jack spoke, his head moving left to right even though his eyes are closed. "marco!"

"polo!!!" the three of us said in unison.

jack opened his eyes and shook his head. "i should've known."

we all laughed and then quickly tried to run away before he could grab us by the ankle and pull us under with him. let's just say lukey boy did not survive that one...
