MY BOYFRIEND'S FAMILY is throwing their annual new year's eve party, and this year, my family is also attending.
jumping out of the shower, i reach for my white towel, wrapping it around my body. i throw my hair up in a towel-bun and grab my phone, accepting the phone call.
"hello?"
"hi," i answer, putting the phone on speaker and setting it down on my bathroom counter. "i miss you."
"not as much as i miss you, cutie. whatcha' doin?"
i smile. "just got out of the shower."
"can i see?"
"jack!!" i snap. he just laughs.
"i'm joking. well, kinda. what time are you and your family getting here?"
i plug the blow dryer in. "an hour? hour and a half maybe?"
"okay, let me know when you're here. love you."
"yeah, i will. love you too, rowdy."
i hang up the phone and start blow drying my hair. i am definitely pressed for time.
soon enough my dad is loading up the car and my mom is calling me to come down. i grab my phone, keys, throw on my jacket, and grab the gold party hats.
when we arrive at the hughes household, i text jack.

as my parents and i get out of the car, jack opens the front door and greets us all. he gives me a big hug and spins me around, kissing me after.
with a big grin, he says, "you look so pretty."
i smile back. "thank you, rowdy! you look handsome."
"thanks, baby." he took all of our coats and hung them up inside.
after saying hi to ellen, jim, and the rest of jack's family—well, except his brothers—i head downstairs into the basement to see quinn and luke playing darts. jack was messing with the speaker on the bar.
"y/n's here!!" quinn shouted. "jack, hold my darts."
he walked over to give me a hug, and same thing with luke. jack turned to us, frowning.
"what is this steal-my-girlfriend day?!" he exclaimed.
"not yet," luke said, snickering. "she's pretty cool though."
"thanks, lukey."
"yeah, i want a y/n," quinn added.
jack repeatedly shook his head no, handing quinn his darts back. "no no no. there's only one y/n and she's taken. by me."
he put an arm around my waist from behind and pressed a kiss to the side of my forehead.
"yeah yeah," quinn said. "she secretly loves us more."
"everyone come upstairs!!! we're counting down soon!!!" ellen yelled from the staircase.
we all raced up the stairs, jack throwing me over his shoulder, until we were in the living room and he set me down gently.
ellen poured us some sparkling white grape juice and put together a charcuterie board of different cheeses, crackers, grapes, and tortilla chips. oh, and all of us put on our gold party hats of course.
after taking a sip of my drink, jack grabbed my hand in his. we walked over to tv where the reporters were about to count down.

he turned to me. "i love you. thank you for being in my life and for making memories with me that will last a lifetime. i can't wait to spend another year with you."
i smiled big.

"i love you too, jacky. you are my forever best friend and i can't wait to spend another year with you too. and of course, cheers to many more!" i said.
he returned the smile and we clinked our glasses.

"happy new year!!!" we all shouted in unison. many hugs were being exchanged, big smiles, and lots of kisses.
jack put his arm around my waist from behind, looking down at me with lots of love and adoration.
"happy new year, baby." he pressed a soft kiss to my lips.
"happy new year, jacky bear."
"streamer time!!!" luke and quinn both shouted, jumping off the couch and pulling a string that released colored streamers of the entire rainbow into the air and onto the floor.
the rest of us laughed in return.
"i love the grand gesture, but you two will be vacuuming this, right?" ellen asked, pointing to the streamers all over the floor.
luke and quinn looked at each other and then at their mom. "yes, ma'am!"
and so the new year began with colored streamers and laughter filling the house. everyone was smiling, the room buzzing with excitement and joy. we danced around, making silly faces and taking pictures, capturing the moment forever. it was a perfect start to what we all hoped would be an amazing year, filled with happiness, love, and unforgettable memories.
AUTHOR HERE, omgg helloooo everyone!!! it's been a HOT minute since i've posted but here we are lol happy 2025! i can successfully say i've gotten into college and that i cannot wait to graduate high school soon! (unfortunately my first day back from break is tmrw i'm so sad pls send help) i hope everyone is doing well and hope you all have a great year filled with love and happiness!!! here's your daily jack pic! xx
