Chapter Fourteen:The House With The Wisteria Family Crest

Tanjiro believed that he gave Inosuke a concussion from his headbutt. An amazed Teruko asked to touch Tanjiro's forehead while Zenitsu was in disbelief....he thought that he heard the sound of their skulls crushing and the sound of Inosuke's ribs breaking and he couldn't believe that there wasn't any blood on Tanjiro. Inosuke eventually woke up just like Tanjiro predicted. The boy who had green eyes and black hair with blue tips woke up with a loud scream and began chasing Zenitsu frightening him, until he saw Tanjiro and the children burying the dead from the mansion. Inosuke asked what they were doing and why, refusing to help out much to Zenitsu's bewilderment.

'It's ok you should go back to rest, you have broken ribs and you just got up from a concussion.....every one has a different pain threshold it's nothing to be ashamed of....me, Nezuko, Zenitsu and the children will handle the burial' Tanjiro answered in a kind tone he saw the injuries that Inosuke had suffered from through the transparent world and he knew that the boar head was to injured to handle the hard work of burying the dead...Inosuke needed to see a doctor soon and he needed to rest until his injuries have completely healed.

Inosuke then suddenly yelled out that he isn't to be underestimated and that he can bury hundreds of corpses and beat them all, all while showing off his flexibility by contorting his body in a weird and painful looking position wich shocked everyone. That after noon, Tanjiro,Nezuko, Zenitsu and the children prayed for the souls of the deceased, while Inosuke occupied himself with head butting the trees around him.

And then Tanjiro's Kasugai crow appeared and instructed them to follow him. Tanjiro, Nezuko and Zenitsu began to leave but were Interrupted by Inosuke who asked what they were doing. Tanjiro answered that they are descending the mountain and asked that Inosuke come join them. As they leave Zenitsu who still believed that Shoichi had defeated the tongue demon, held on to boy for protection forcing Tanjiro to knock the yellow clad slayer unconscious much to his annoyance, Tanjiro's crow then instructed Kiyoshi to hold out his hands and the bird spited out a small bag, Tanjiro and the crow explained to Kiyoshi that the bag contained wisteria to ward off demons, given Kiyoushi's status as a marechi, the children then bid the demon slayers farewell and went off on their way. As they traveled Inosuke kept challenging Tanjiro believing that he can find a way to defeat him, the red clad slayer irritably said that his name is Tsugikuni Tanjiro only for Inosuke to butcher and mispronounce his name so Tanjiro decided to ignore Inosuke for the rest of the way much to Inosuke's anger and annoyance. As night falls the four arrived at a house with a wisteria crest on the gate. The crow told them that their orders are to rest at the house until their injuries were fully healed but the four remained unsure and then an elderly woman opened the gate and greeted them, she recognized the four as demon slayers and invited them inside. Once they were inside the woman provided them with a change of clothes and a warm meal wich they admired except for Zenitsu who naively believed that she was a monster, this earned him a scolding from Tanjiro for his rudeness.

As they were eating Inosuke began to gobble his food by hand creating a large mess. Zenitsu asked for him to use chopsticks but Inosuke ignored him and continued to wolf down his meal. Later the woman provided them with futons to sleep on. Inosuke quickly picked one saying 'First come first served ' Tanjiro happily accepted Inosuke's choice wich made Inosuke very annoyed.

'So whare are you gonna sleep? ' said Inosuke as he hurled a pillow at Zenitsu's head, and then the old woman introduced them to a doctor who came to treat their injuries. Tanjiro and Nezuko were of course fine and in perfect health but both Zenitsu and Inosuke suffered from broken ribs and Inosuke still had a large bump on his head from Tanjiro's head butt.

'Oh the lump on my head has gotten even worse!' whined Inosuke.

'My sincere apologies....me and my sister shall help nurse you and Zenitsu back to health' Tanjiro said as he bowed in apology.

Tanjiro was then informed by his Kasugai crow that this house belongs to a family that were saved by demon slayers in the past and as thanks the family tends to demon slayers for free. Tanjiro then asked Inosuke about his reason for entering final selection and the reason that Inosuke gave was shocking. A random demon slayer had entered Inosuke's mountain leading Inosuke to beat up the slayer and take his sword and then Inosuke learned about the selection process and the existence of demons. Tanjiro stated that they were both raised in the mountains but Inosuke denied that saying that he didn't have any parents or siblings, living in the mountains to test his strength against others instead. Zenitsu took this opportunity to ask the Tsugikuni siblings why they joined the demon slayer corps and became demon slayers. Zenitsu was afraid that he would get scolded by Tanjiro for asking such a personal question but instead Tanjiro said that with his scenes of smell he could immediately tell that Zenitsu was a kind and trustworthy young man even though Zenitsu wasn't yet sure about that aspect of himself.

Tanjiro then went on to explain how he and Nezuko became demon slayers to avenge their family and save their missing father.

That night the spirits of Tanjiro's half siblings had come to visit him in his dream.

'Masamune....Ryūka may i ask you why do you hate me and my family so much' Tanjiro asked in a sad tone

'You will find out soon enough....our father is not who you think he is' was what Masamune said before he and Ryūka faded away,they couldn't stand Tanjiro's presence! they had deep seated feelings of envy and hatred in their hearts for Tanjiro and his family and they honestly wondered why Tanjiro and Nezuko were risking their lives to save their father?!....that old man doesn't care about them.....if they died he would just replace them just like what he did with Masamune and his family. Tanjiro woke up the next morning thinking about meaning behind his brother's words last night, was his father really hiding something from them?....only time will tell.
