Chapter Twenty Three: Hashira Meeting

Tanjiro and the Kakushi eventually reached Shinobu's house but they found no one at the front so they decided to to walk to the back. Tanjiro saw numerous Butterflies giving their names and eventually he saw a young girl in the back. The Kakushi also saw her and realized that she is a Tsuguko and her name is Kanao Tsuyuri. Tanjiro recognized this girl, she was one of the survivors of Final Selection and he saw her back at Mount NATAGUMO. He told this to the Kakushi and they explained that a Tsuguko is a swordsman who is chosen and trained by a Hashira to become their successor and that only the most skilled and talented are chosen.

The female Kakushi approached Kanao and informed her that they arrived under Shinobu's orders. Upon asking permission to enter the female Kakushi was ignored by Kanao who wasn't speaking a word, this made the Kakushi slightly confused, she asked Kanao if she minded but once again she received no answer. Suddenly a loud voice asked who they are startling Tanjiro and the Kakushi. That voice belonged to a girl with black hair and blue eyes wearing a special blue uniform, the girl's name was Aoi Kanzaki. Aoi saw that they were Kakushi and directed them into the mansion. Once they were inside the hospital ward they saw Zenitsu who has just discovered that he must take terrible-tasting medication five times a day for three months straight,much to the concern of an attendant. Though Zenitsu knew that he will make a full recovery if he just took the medicine the boy still demanded to know how and why?. Tanjiro was relieved to see his friend again. The girl who was leading them...Aoi got annoyed by Zenitsu's loud complaining, the girl had reminding Zenitsu that he has been told countless times previously to take his medication and she even threatened to tie up Zenitsu and force feed him his medicine if he dare complain again before she walked away. After Aoi left, Tanjiro asked Zenitsu if he was ok...Tanjiro could see the spider venom coursing through his veins, realizing that he had truly entered the forests of Mount NATAGUMO, Zenitsu loudly recalled how he was stung by a spider and is now being yelled at by that girl, he then started speaking about his near transformation into a spider as snot hangs from his nose to the Kakushi he had been crying on, utterly disgusting him.

Tanjiro asked about Inosuke and Murata's whereabouts, Zenitsu hadn't met Murata so he didn't know who he is but he pointed to Inosuke who was lying in bed beside him. Tanjiro quickly ran to Inosuke's bed, he was glad that he was able to rescue him.

'I'm so weak and pathetic' answered Inosuke in a weak and coarse voice, it made Tanjiro really sad, hearing Inosuke say terrible things about himself, Tanjiro also wondered how Inosuke lost his voice.....Zenitsu said that it was due to Inosuke getting hit in the neck and screaming at the top of his lungs but Zenitsu still remained unsure of the details. Zenitsu explained that Inosuke's depression has made him calm and gentle much to Zenitsu's delight, leading Tanjiro to ask him why he is laughing creepily. Inosuke began to apologize for his weakness.

'Don't be harsh on yourself Inosuke, you are not weak or pathetic,you're still alive and here with us,and that is that's all that matters' said Tanjiro giving his friend words of encouragement. Suddenly Zenitsu worriedly asked if anyone had seen him take his morning medication, unwilling to taste it again and yelling at his misery. Tanjiro then lied his sister on an empty bed to rest...Tanjiro thanked Nezuko for helping the master, he was so proud of his little sister.

That night during the meeting at the Headquarters, the Oyakata Kagaya Ubuyashiki had met with the Hashira to discuss the threat of demons, as they have all reported the increasing damage caused by them will inevitably lead to human life being under more significant threat than ever. Sanemi Shinazugawa The Wind Hashira commented that the incident on Mount NATAGUMO has shown that the skills of Demon Slayers has plummeted dramatically, deeming most of them useless. When he wondered if the trainers could tell if of someone could at least be competent, The Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui jokingly reminded Sanemi that Tanjiro landed 'That flamboyant kill' on the Lower Moon Five earning him Sanemi's ire. While Shinobu Kocho The Insect Hashira added that it will become harder to unify the human population as it grows. Gyomei Himejima The Stone Hashira had wisely stated that since only those whose loved ones were killed by demons or those who descend from a family of Demon Slayers choose to join the Corps, they can't simply allow people without the necessary drive and resolve join them as it would be cruel to ask such from a layperson. Kyojuro Rengoku The Flame Hashira chimed in that Tanjiro encountering a Twelve Kizuke only months after joining could mean that he has the power to drew them, that made Kyojuro a little envious since even they the Hashira rarely get to face them. Kagaya noted that Lower Moon Five's drastic actions mean that Muzan isn't near Mount NATAGUMO, referring to the incident in Asakusa and how Muzan draws attention to cover his tracks. Despite Kagay's frustration at how demons continue to devour humans and get stronger freely, Kagaya still had faith in the Hashira, believing that he had assembled the strongest Hashiras since the feudal era. One by one Kagaya said the names of the Hashira and stated that he is looking forward to their success, addressing the swordsmen as his "Children ". After the meeting, left alone to himself, Kagaya swears that he will defeat Muzan Kibutsuji, even if it's the last thing he'll do and that they will bring him down without fail.

Author's Note: we are almost finished covering the first season of Demon Slayer all we have left is the Rehabilitation Training Arc, thing well just keep getting better and better and tell what are your favorite and least favorite Arcs of demon slayer, my favorite is the Mugen Train Arc, and my least favorite is the Hashira Traning Arc, though a love the Anime version of that Arc they made that Arc actually good.
