Chapter 21-Deep In The Saint-Denis Swamps

that morning Arthur says "Good morning princess" kissing my forehead, I say "Good mornin' darlin' how did you sleep?"

he says "Perfect, because I was with you" smiling, I say "Is there anything we have to do today?" he says "Nope, you know what that means" smirking.

I say "Oh? What does that mean?" giggling, he says "Let's go explore, I want to spend some alone time with you" smiling.

we mount up as I say "So where exactly are we goin?" he says "to visit somewhere neither one of us has been darlin" smirking.

I say "well amuse me then Mr. Morgan" smirking, we continue riding for quite some time, untilwe make it into a town called Saint denis.

he says "alright, this looks like a swamp, wanna explore it?" I say "I dont know arthur, it looks scary!!" he says "do you not trust me to protect you?" looking sad and offended.

i say "no I do arthur! with my life! its just still scary... can...can I ride with you?" looking down nervously, Arthur says "of course darlin' I promise you i'll protect you, just hold on, as tight as you need to" 

as I dismount Snowflake and mounting Dakota, I wrap my arms so tight around Arthur, he grabs one of my hands planting a kiss on the back, holding it tight to his chest as we ride off into the swamp.

Arthur can feel my tenseness, "sweetheart, its alright, I ain't gonna let nothing happen to you, I promise" I just hold on tighter, we ride by an older looking man standing on the porch of his shed.

the man says "Hi folks! you hingery? I've got some food inside! yall look like y'all been traveling for some time!!!" Arthur says "Yeah we have, darlin' imma run in and grab it then ill be back out" as he dismounts his horse.

I say "Hurry up arthur!" sounding worried, he says "I will sweetheart" smiling as he enters the man's house, all of a sudden a group of weirdos starts yelling and running after me.

I dont think I've ever giddy uped a horse so fast in my life, I was literally running for my life, I was completely horrified, everything I've been in these past months downright left my brain, I was in tremendous fear.

I end up losing them but forgot about Arthur, so I get out my gun rising back through the town, and see a man lying on the ground so I walk Dakota over there getting a closer look.

oh, my word, it's Arthur, I shout "arthur! What happened!?" he says "I....uhhh...owwww" I help him up "Baby! What happened?" he says "I dont wanna talk about it" hobbling over to the horse.

I say "Oh my word, imma go kill the son of a bitch! he hurt you didn't he?" Arthur says "Yeah he uhh did" I ride off on Snowflake as Arthur follows along.

we arrive back at the shack, I dismount Snowflake and say "SONNY!!!" the man walks out, "Aww my little boy came back for seconds!" I say "Shut the hell up! You should be lucky I haven't shot a bullet straight through your skull already!" walking up toward him.

 he runs inside as I chase him in, hog-tying him and walking over to the swamp, dropping him in the water, soon a gator shows up dealing with Sommers for me.

I say "Hand me a torch and some dynamite, Arthur" Sticking my hand out, he hands me the torch and stick, I walk over to the door, place the torch inside, and the dynamite on the door, lighting it, and run back to my horse.

I watch the shack blow up in flames as Arthur says "damn, I ain't never seen you like that before" Smirking at me from on his horse, I say "Well no one messes with my man, I'll kill anyone who tries, I ain't losin' you again" leaning over placing a soft kiss on his lips.

Arthur says "I think we've done enough exploring for today, let's head back" We begin heading back, as I say "Arthur, I know I keep saying this but I'm sorry I gave you such a hard time about my parents"

he grabs my hand from across the horse "Darlin' it's okay, you had every right to be mad, and I'm real sorry again" kissing the top of my hand.

I say "Arthur, you're a good man" he says "I hate to break it to you but I'm not" Lookin' away, I say Arthur Morgan look at me, you are a good man, and I love you more than anything! you hear me out! just because you've done some bad things in the past doesn't mean you can't change" smiling lovingly at him.

he says "You believe in me more than I do" I say "it's my job Arthur" Still smiling, once we've gotten near the town a man says "Well look at this gorgeous woman!"

the men hoot and holler, I say "I've got a husband" One of the men says "Where is he then? cause I know the man next to ya ain't" Arthur says in a deep tone "Right here you bastard" staring at them harshly.

the man says "Married to a scum I see" Smirking, I say "Partner I think you've got the wrong name, see...you're scum, my man? nah he's honorable, but if you dont quit botherin' me... that's another story"

another man says "But yet he won't stick up for ya makin' you defend yourself? Pathetic" arthur says "Listen here partner, you ain't gonna talk to my wife like that ya here? get lost!"

the men dont leave so arthur draws his gun, pointing it at them saying "I will not hesitate to pull this trigger, so in your best interest, ya better run boahs" as they run so fast.

I say "Thank you arthur" he says "dont gotta thank me, it's my job" Smiling sweetly, we continue our ride home, talkin' about everything and anything.

once we arrive Dutch says "Welcome back, I was startin' to think ya wasn't comin' back" Chuckling, he adds "You're walking funny arthur, everything okay?"

I say "he dont wanna talk about it" We begin walking back to his tent as Bill says "I met an interesting feller in the swamp! Real interesting!" arthur says "Oh really?"

Bill says "Oh yeah! he seemed to know everything about you! I mean allllllll about you" Smirking, I say "Bill if you dont get the hell away from us I'll shoot ya" he says "You'd never...Dutch wouldn't allow it" smirking slyly.

I say "Dutch ain't gotta know sweetpea" Walking off with arthur, he says "You're quite protective over me today" I say "Arthur, I know what happened..."

he says "Oh...yeah...ummm...." I say "You ain't gotta talk about it, that's why I killed him, and burnt the whole damn place to the ground, even though you're a man and can stand up for yourself, I still feel the need to"

Arthur leans over, kissing me gently, "I love you, you know that right?" I say "Of course I do arthur, let's get some rest" As we get settled for bed.
