In a house located deep into the woods hidden in the outskirts of Kyoto and a little bit further away from Calamari County.

(Like I said beforehand, if Nintendo can release an actual piece of art of Callie and Marie in Paris of all places then I'm willing to add real life locations to this story)

It was safe to say Ayumi wasn't having that hard of a time raising Baby Mario and Luigi as her sons. Of course she never really had a parent around, but she had parental figures in her life that showed her the ropes to parenting.

She fed the babies, changed their diapers, taught them how to read and write, tucked them to bed, rocked them to sleep whenever one of them started crying in the middle of the night, taught them how to use ink-based weapons(mainly the brush), you name it.

Though for some reason, they also learned how to use hammers. Ayumi never really questioned it because even though the brothers were babies, they knew how to use the hammers as if it were second nature.

They literally made their own training obstacle course where they would focus on using their paint brushes and hammers as well as platforming.

Eventually when they got older, she trained them to be strong. After all, if they didn't have their weapons on them, then they'd at least need to learn how to throw hands. And the results were pretty good.

Mario was pretty strong and durable as well as Luigi. Mario could run fast, punch through solid brick, jump pretty high and platform around the area pretty well on his own. And Luigi could pretty much do the same. If Ayumi were to say anything about Luigi, it's that Luigi is able to run faster and jump higher than Mario. His capabilities were pretty impressive.

The only thing holding him back was his low self-esteem. Which she would have to help him work on.

And now her biggest issue was their mysterious abilities. Mario had fire and Luigi had thunder. She didn't know how to help the bros get them under control. And there was also the fact that they had the ability to materialize any item they wanted into existence and use it as a sort of power-up.

On one instance she saw Mario materialize some kind of leaf and from touching it, he gained ears and a stripped tail.

Though the biggest problem was the fire and thunder that was out of control. So, her solution to remedy this was having them meditate daily. And to her and their surprise, it worked.

Needless to say, Ayumi was doing a good job raising Mario and Luigi. They were their own little family now after all, as she saw the two as her sons. And they saw her as their mother.

Currently, Mario and Luigi were around the ages 9-10. And they were walking through Kyoto and currently going to Calamari County.

Ayumi was walking while she held their hands.

Luigi: Mama, where exactly are we going?

Mario: Yeah, I thought we were going to get something to eat?

Ayumi: *laughs a bit* Well you see, we got invited by an old friend of mine to come to this music competition. Apparently his granddaughters are going to compete and he wants us to watch. He also wants to catch up and meet you two.

The older inkling explained.

Mario: So this guy knows of us?

Ayumi: Of course. When we last spoke, he spoke so highly of his granddaughters and I got to meet them. I'm sure you'll enjoy their company.

Luigi: I-I'm a little scared mama...what if they're-a mean...?

Ayumi: No worries Lu, they are sweet young girls. And besides, your brother will protect you. Isn't that right Mario?
