⚠️TW: Mentions of death
—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
~Emma's POV~
So this is a farm that demons use to eat. And we have tracking devices on us that tell Mom our location.
No biggie.
"What about these?" I brandished a tablecloth that I had found on one of the shelves in the storage room. Norman and I were going to make a rope to scale the wall.
"Those are perfect. Nice job, Emma." Norman smiled. We grabbed tablecloths and tied them around our waists(under their shirts). There was a tree that had a hole in it, so I climbed it and placed the tablecloths inside.
"We need to tell Ray about all this." Norman spoke softly after I had climbed down from the tree.
"Tell me about what? Are you two dating or something?"
Norman and I jumped. I turned my head to see Ray, leaning against a tree.
"I followed you guys. Sorry."
"You scared the crap out of me, Ray!" I pouted and stamped my foot as Norman laughed.
"You didn't deny my accusation."
"We aren't dating, Ray! Norman is my friend and nothing more."
Norman began to nod, and Ray look slightly relieved.
"Then what do you need to tell me?"
I exchanged a glance with Norman, and I explained everything we saw last night to Ray.
"So that's why you looked so upset last night, Norman." Ray stared at Norman, who had been zoning out.
"Huh? Oh. Yeah." Norman began to pick at the skin on his fingers.
"But anyway, this is really bad. We need to escape this place."
"I'm surprised you believed us so easily, Ray." I bit the inside of my cheek. It was a nervous habit of mine, but I didn't do it very often.
"Of course I'd believe you. Norman wouldn't tell such a stupid lie. He isn't you." Ray smirked, but he quickly dropped it. "But if we want to escape, we can't possibly take all the kids."
~Norman's POV~
I sighed softly. I knew Ray would say something like this, and I internally agreed with him. But I promised Emma that we would take all the kids.
Emma started to argue with Ray, and my ears started to ring.
"But we need to take everyone! They'll all die if we don't!"
"They're just going to be a burden. Plus, a lot of the kids here are babies and can barely walk."
"Still! If we don't take everyone, I'm not going!"
"You're kidding, right?"
"I won't leave! I won't!"
I saw Ray turn to me in my peripheral vision. I looked over to him, and he grabbed me by the arm, pulling me away from Emma.
"Do something to knock some sense into that idiot! She's completely unreasonable!"
"I know, right?" I giggled and smiled at Ray. "When we went to the gate and saw Conny's body last night, I was scared of that that was going to happen to me. But Emma was scared of that happening to her family. She truly is amazing."
"But it's crazy! It's a pipe dream! Why can't you see that?" Ray grabbed the front of my shirt. My face began to feel warm again. "Tell me why!"
Just lie. It'll be okay.
"Because I like her."
