⚠️TW: Death

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

~Ray's POV~

Emma was back. She didn't disappear like she was supposed. I grit my teeth in frustration. Phil went up to her and hugged her. So did a few of the other kids. Norman just turned away and went inside.

Why the hell did you come back, Emma?

(Time skip to after dinner cuz Serotonin by girl in red is a bop rn)

Emma was dressed in the clothes all the children wore before getting shipped out.

(Imagine Emma in these clothes instead of Conny-)

She was packing her suitcase when I grabbed her by the front of her shirt.

"What the hell are you doing? You'll die if you stay here! Run away!"

Emma shook her head. "I don't want to run away. But listen to me. I have to tell you what was past the wall."

"What was it?" Norman's voice was shaky. He had spent about half an hour locked in the infirmary. I assumed he had been crying.

"A cliff."

"Huh? A cliff?"

"Yeah. Anyone would die if they jumped down it. So I ran along the wall, and it split at a sixty degree angle." Emma drew a hexagon on a piece of paper. "Five plants. And headquarters." She labeled them. "There was one bridge. That is probably the best way to escape."

Sherry knocked on the door. "Emma? Mom is asking for you. You're leaving soon."

Emma pulled her coat on. "I'll be right there." She handed me the device I had made. "Here you go. I didn't use it."

"So you were always going to come back?" Norman gripped the blanket that was covering his lower half. "It would have been easy to tell us that there was a cliff surrounding the House. You didn't have to come back."

Emma smiled. She just smiled. "Yeah. Sorry. I lied. If I ran away, it'd be harder for everyone else to escape. You won't change my mind, so don't argue with me." She pulled both me and Norman into a hug. "Thank you. For everything. I had a good life. I was happy. I'm glad I met you two."

"God damn it, Emma." I didn't hug her back.

Norman reached up and gripped her shirt. "It's not too late. Run away, Emma. Go hide in the forest."

Emma pulled away from us and shook her head. "Good bye." She grabbed her suitcase and left the infirmary.

Norman let out a sob, but he grabbed his crutches and followed her. I followed him so that he wouldn't get hurt. There was a hoard of kids around Emma and Mom. They were all saying their good byes. Don and Gilda joined us in the back. Gilda and Norman were both crying. I hugged Norman and rubbed his back. I wanted to comfort him, but it was quite hard since this was not a comforting situation. I looked up and saw that Don was doing his best to comfort Gilda. A lot of other kids were crying, too. Emma was very popular among everyone.

"Good bye, everyone. Take care." Emma waved, and then she left the House with Mom.

~Emma's POV~

"Your suitcase feels very light."

"Yeah. It's not like I can bring anything out of here."

"I knew that you wouldn't run away. You're a good child. You're also doing the right thing. Now, I'll be able to ship out Norman and Ray maturely. Everyone can live happily until the very end."

"Hey Mom?"

"Hm?"

"Are you happy?"

She looked surprised for a second. But she smiled. "Yes. I am. Because I had the honor of meeting you, Emma."

We walked past the gate, and it shut behind us. A demon was already standing there, holding one of those awful flowers. I took a deep breath.

So this is it. Norman. Ray. Everyone.

Mom stepped to the side as the demon walked toward me.

"Hm. This one isn't running away like the other ones." The demon's voice was raspy.

"She's a good kid." Mom smirked.

The demon picked me up, pinning my arms to my sides.

The stars...

~Mom's POV~

Emma's heart was pierced by the flower. The demon then placed her into one of those jars that they used to store human flesh. He had me write down a few things, and then I walked back to the House.

It was quiet when I got back inside. It seemed like all the kids had gone to bed.

But as I passed the infirmary, I noticed that the door was left ajar. Someone was crying. And someone else was comforting them. I peeked inside and saw Norman and Ray. I quickly left. I liked to avoid crying kids if I could.

~Norman's POV~

I hate crying in front of others. But Ray was surprisingly good at comforting people. He gently wiped the tears from my face while kissing my forehead. I don't really remember what he said to make me calm down, but I do remember falling asleep in his arms.

When I woke up in the morning, I was alone. Everything hurt. I stood up, grabbed my crutches, and made my way down to the dining hall. Ray was already sitting at the table. I sat down next to him.

"Feeling better?"

"Slightly." I rested my head on his shoulder. "But what about you?"

"I'll be okay."

A/N: How many aura points do I lose for almost choking on my toothbrush(I tripped with it in my mouth-)?? It was genuinely hard to write all of this(sorry Emma stans-). At one point, I'm probably gonna go back and make the earlier chapters better.

I hope you all have a good morning/afternoon/evening/night! <3
