⚠️TW: Violence
—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
~Ray's POV~
"We should start by switching out the chemicals."
Mom nodded, and we started to walk up the stairs. Norman had told me where he hid the items he had obtained.
It's really weird. I can't seem to find Sister Krone. Where'd she go?
"I got rid of her."
"Huh?" I turned around to look at Mom.
"Sister Krone is dead."
It took me a few seconds to process, and then I ran to Sister Krone's room. When I opened the door, the room was empty. Mom came up to me from behind and gripped my shoulders.
"She's gone because I didn't have any use for her anymore. You too."
I free myself from her grip and turn to face her. "What do you mean?"
"The deal we made about six years ago. It has expired."
"So you're cutting me off too? Don't you need me? Don't you need me to control Norman and the others from behind the scenes?"
"I suppose."
"I was useful to you!"
"I agree with that. But in the end, you are a traitor to not only the kids, but me as well. So now, I'll control everyone on my own. The situation has been changed. So, forgive me, Ray." Mom pulls the tracker out of her pocket and opens it.
Shit.
Mom closed the door and locked me inside. "I'll unlock the door when I come back, so don't worry."
She must have looked at her tracker, because the next thing she said was: "There are two kids heading straight for the fence. They must be Emma and Norman, right? I assuming they're going to inspect the vicinity."
How'd she find that out?
"Good bye, Ray, and thank you for all you've done for me."
I slammed my body into the door, but it wouldn't come down.
God damn it! I need to get out of here! I need to warn them!
~Don's POV~
Ray hasn't signaled to us yet. Let's hope this whole thing goes smoothly.
And then, with comical timing, Mom comes out of the House and starts making her way into the forest.
"Ray didn't signal to us! What's going on?"
"You stay here! I'll go check inside!"
I dashed through the door and up the stairs. I heard a banging noise every now and then. It was coming from Sister Krone's room. I was about to open the door when it suddenly flew open and came off of its hinges. Ray had kicked down the door.
"Oops." Ray stepped out of the room.
"Ray! We need to hurry!"
"I know!"
The two of us run down the stairs and out of the House. I call to Gilda.
"Come on! We have to go!"
"Is it cancelled?" She dropped the kid she was holding and ran behind me.
"Nope! We're pushing through with it! Mom needs to be stopped!"
~Emma's POV~
I was holding the rope as Norman and I ran toward the wall. The fence was up ahead, but the both of us stopped running.
"Emma."
I nodded and tossed the rope to a spot where it was easy to grab but also hidden. We waited, and Mom soon came into view.
"What's wrong, Mom?" I put on my sweetest smile.
What's happening? What happened to everyone else?
"We've known each other for ten years. But this is the first time we're actually talking without acting."
My smile falls, and so does Norman's. What's the point?
"It's nice to meet you two." She began to laugh. "You don't have to be so tense. Right now, it's just the caretaker and the demon food. Believe me, I love the children. That's why I want you to give up resisting. I don't want you to suffer. You live a happy life, right?"
Happy? She's got to be joking.
"You can't escape, so let's all just live at Grace Field House together. I want you five to be happy until the end."
"She isn't going to ship us out immediately." I whispered to Norman,
He nodded. "But she has a different method now. So right now is the only chance we have."
Ah. I get it.
I turn to Mom. "Okay, Mom." She smiled, and so did I. "I'll stop being a good girl."
Norman and I went in opposite directions. I grabbed the rope from its resting place, and Norman ran at Mom. If he can grab the tracker, I can disappear. I had the rope, and I began to run away when I heard a loud crack. I stop running and turned around. Norman was on the ground with Mom above him. She was twisting his leg in an unnatural way.
Mom broke Norman's leg!?
Norman placed his hands over his mouth to stop himself from screaming, but I noticed the tears that were starting to form in his eyes. I just stood there, stunned. How could anyone do such a thing to a child?
Mom pulled Norman into a hug. "It'll be okay. It doesn't hurt. My poor Norman. This is why you need to give up." And she laughed. "But you hugged, and it made me happy." Mom turned to me while pulling a roll of bandages from her pocket. She rolled up the right leg of Norman's pants and began to bandage him up."And you've realized too, Emma! I'll control everyone until the end. Because you are special. So I need to protect you at all costs. So I broke your leg to protect you, Norman. You'll want to stay put for tomorrow."
"Tomorrow?" Norman had tears running down his face.
Ray, Don, and Gilda had found them. They stopped running, and they all seemed out of breath.
"That's right. There was a message from headquarters." She looked up from Norman's leg and at me. "Congratulations, Emma. Your shipment date has been set."
