~Ray's POV~
The eight of us had climbed the wall, and Anna had treated Norman's ear. We had gotten to the area where it would be easiest to cross when an alarm went off. I saw Norman cover his ears out of the corner of my eye, so I went over to him and placed my hands over his(ik he only has one, but it makes more sense this way). I hummed to him as Nat wrapped the ends of the ropes around a tree before the wall, and Don managed to wrap the other ends around a tree that was past the cliff (idk how to describe it, but if you've read/watched tpn, ykwim).
Don used a hanger and went down one of the ropes. He signaled to us with a lantern, telling us that it was okay to cross. Nat went next, then Gilda and Anna, and then Thoma and Lanni. Norman and I were about to go down when Mom came running towards us. She was panting and sweating.
"Please don't go." Mom gasped out.
"Good bye, Mom." Norman whispered.
I flipped her off before going down. We reached the other side, and we untied the ropes so that no one could follow us. And then we ran far away from Grace Field House.
After a few hours of non stop running and walking, we decided to stop and eat. The eight of us sat at the base of a giant tree and ate some of the food that we brought. Don, Nat, and Anna were talking to each other, Thoma and Lanni were doing their own thing, and Gilda kept on glancing at Norman. Eventually, she spoke.
"Norman. Why aren't you eating?" Gilda took a bite of her bread roll.
"I'm not hungry." Norman stared at the trees to our left.
"You need the strength! So eat!"
Norman took a small bite out of his bread roll, still staring at the same spot. I noticed he was paler than usual, and he was sweating slightly, despite it being cold out.
"Are you alright,, Norman?"
He turned to look at me. He took a second to process my words, and then he smiled unconvincingly. "I'm fine!" Norman finished eating his bread and began to fidget with his bracelet.
"You still have that?" I took a sip of water.
"Mhm." His smile became a lot more genuine. "You gave it to me, so why would I get rid of it?"
A warm feeling spread through my body, even though it was the middle of winter. I pressed my lips one of his temples.
"Do you two have to be so lovey-dovey in front of everyone." Nat was side-eyeing us.
"You're just mad cause no one loves you."
Everyone began to laugh, except for Nat and Norman. Norman looked like he was lost in his own thoughts, so I grasped his hand to bring him back. He leaned against me, closing his eyes.
"Happy birthday, Ray..."
I started to play with his hair. "You're so sweet."
"Hmph..."
Once everyone had finished eating, we started moving again. Norman and I stayed in the back so that no one fell behind.
"Sorry."
"Huh? What are you sorry for?" Norman glanced at me through his long eyelashes.
"For not cooperating in the beginning. If I hadn't been difficult, you wouldn't have burnt your hands. Or lost an ear, which was not apart of the plan at all."
Norman smiled sheepishly. "Who told you that?"
"Gilda."
"That checks out. But it's okay, since you're alive and here with me."
"I promise that won't do anything like that ever again."
Norman smiled normally. "Thank you, Ray. Did I tell you how much I love you?"
I smiled too. "You tell me everyday, love."
Nat had stopped walking, which caused everyone to do the same. "Do we have a plan? Like, where are we going?"
"B06-32." Norman pulled a pen out of his pocket.
"What's that pen?"
He handed it to me. "Open it up."
I pulled it open, and a holographic screen appeared in front of me.
B01-14
"That's our current location. We need to go south to get to B06-32."
Don poked at the screen. "Hey, this is pretty cool."
"Whatever." Nat kept on walking.
Then we heard a scream. And Nat was no where in sight.

RandomCredits to the artist of the cover art, and credits to the authors of The Promised Neverland! In this story, Emma gets shipped out instead of Norman. It will probably follow the anime for the most part cuz I haven't finished the manga. Sorry for any...
