" Mommy's dead ? ," Rebecca said in a soft gentle voice that sounded very confused as she sat on her father's lap in their living room. Nigel sat beside Richard and her , his hand stroking her pony tailed hair in a loving paternal way. " She's not coming back? Where is she, Daddy? "
Richard blinked back tears in his own eyes. " I'm afraid so , Pumpkin. She..... She won't be able to come back again. She can't. She is in heaven now. With your grandparents. Her parents. They're happy, I'm sure. I know she misses you. But she is alright. " He hugged his daughter as she began to cry in his arms. Nigel wrapped his arms around them both wordlessly.
Rebecca cried ," I don't want her to go away! I don't want her to go to heaven ! What about me! Where will I go? I want to go to heaven with Mommy. I don't like God. He took Mommy. He needs to give her back. "
Richard said softly," You can't go, baby girl. You have to stay. You have to stay here with me and Nigel. I will go get all your stuff from your house. We'll make your room look so pretty just like your other room. I'll have your Barbie princess bed put in your room here. You'll live here. It'll be ok. "
Rebecca pulled away and looked at him with her small round tear stained face. " What if God takes you away too ? And Nigel? Are you going away too ? Please don't go away , Daddy ! "
Richard's heart was breaking. He hated to see two people in pain. Nigel. And his daughter. This was killing him. His daughter said she didn't like God. Well he was not a big fan of Him right now either. He looked at her and said briskly," We are not going away. Nigel and I are not going anywhere. We are always going to be here with you. I love you."
" I love you too, Daddy. "
