"Man, I don't want classes to start just yet," Mingyu complained, halfway through stuffing his books and necessities inside his backpack. Wonwoo watched him amusedly from the side, while Mingyu, strangely enough, struggled to fit all of his things in the bag.
"It helps if you keep it properly, and not just throw it in,"
Wonwoo spoke. Mingyu could hear him trying not to let laughter infiltrate his words. "Plus, it's just-"
"No," Mingyu interrupted, "you can't convince me five months is less. That's a whole fucking term,"
"Education is important, babe,"
"Did you just call me babe?"
"Yeah I did,"
"Feels nice to hear,"
"Mhm,"
As they walked out of their house – well, Wonwoo did, but Mingyu got dragged ahead by him – Mingyu kept whining about having to attend classes again. The Holidays had been quite unsatisfactorily short, he claimed.
"That's because you had things to do," explained Wonwoo.
"Like what?"
"You told me the ceiling was interesting!"
"I-" Mingyu stopped himself, knowing he very well admitted it at some point. Grumbling, he crossed his arms and refused to accept that coming from Wonwoo. "Shut up," he muttered.
"Do you wanna sit in the library, for a change?"
Wonwoo offered. Mingyu's heart warmed when he realised Wonwoo was ready to accompany him in the library, despite him having beef with the cranky lady at the register.
It brought a smile to his face, as he nodded and left a kiss on Wonwoo's cheek. "Thank you,"
They, sadly, had to split different ways for their first classes. Mingyu had Administration, while Wonwoo had Arithmetic. Leaving him with another quick kiss on the cheek, Mingyu entered his classroom after waving Wonwoo goodbye.
His eyes landed on Chaeyeon sitting by herself at the very back of the classroom. The classroom was nearly filled, with just a few more people to join in, and the professor wasn't there yet.
Mingyu felt the need to go and sit next to her, since she looked, and has admitted before, really lonely. It was true: she didn't have anyone other than Mingyu to talk to.
Chaeyeon toyed around with her fingers under the desk, with her head sunken low and her eyes not bothered to even look up. Although Mingyu wanted to approach her, the reminders of her actions still sent slivers of discomfort up his spine.
But he hated himself for thinking that way. She, too, had been Mingyu's only friend at one point. He had Wonwoo now, while Chaeyeon was left stranded once again.
Shifting his doubts to the side, Mingyu decided to go and take a seat next to her eventually. He quietly approached her, pulling out the chair beside her. "Hey," he greeted silently.
Chaeyeon looked startled, to say the least. Mingyu's bet was that she wondered about the same things he'd been debating over just a few moments ago.
"Hi," she mumbled, "why are you sitting next to me? I thought we'd agreed to keep a distance,"
"I know, but- You looked so lonely, I felt like..."
"If this is you pitying me, I'd suggest you rather not, and sit wherever else you want,"
